--West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said he gave the team two days off and didn’t go hard yesterday just familiarized themselves with Xavier and what they want to do. Going to go hard the next two days. Xavier can really score, they have a 7-footer that can step out and hit a three. They have a bunch of players that can hit shots and as a team they are shooting over 50-percent from three.

--Huggins said he doesn’t have any good memories of Xavier from his time at Cincinnati.

--Huggins believes that the Xavier/Cincinnati game was quite a rivalry and it was more from the Xavier side than it was the Cincinnati.

--West Virginia had stretches where they played very good against Purdue but they weren’t as consistent as they need to be. That’s what their team has been they go on big runs and don’t score for a while and let the opponent catch back up. They just need to be more consistent.

--Huggins read that the Big 12 could have a challenge with a couple different leagues such as the Big 10. It doesn’t make any difference to him one way or the other if they have those type of games because they try to play a challenging non-conference slate.

--Jerry West and Oscar Robertson were both great to him when he was coaching at each spot. He thinks he’s blessed because he got to go to work and hang out with those guys.

--Very rarely did the two schools Xavier and Cincinnati play when they weren’t ranked. Huggins said he was very close with Skip Prosser so much that the two talked about getting together once a week when they retired to get a beer and talk basketball. But Prosser passed away.

--Nothing new on Jose Perez, they’re still waiting on the waiver. He is allowed to take shots but he can’t practice with the team in there. He can watch practice and come in on his own but can’t participate.

--The guards have great size for Xavier and they like to find ways to turn them loose at the rim because they are good finishers due to their size. They are going to play a 7-footer and another 6-10 guy at same time. They are an aged team and have played in some big games.

--Huggins has known Sean Miller since he was a kid.

--West Virginia played pretty well out West but they throw it around too much and if they do that against Xavier it’s going to be a long night. They have a lot of veterans.

--The whole West Virginia team was sick out West. Some were really sick and some just felt bad. They had six or seven guys with the stomach flu. All of them tried to play through it.
