West Virginia guard Treysen Eaglestaff has withdrawn his name from the 2025 NBA Draft, per Jeff Goodman. Eaglestaff committed to West Virginia on April 20, via the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Eaglestaff spent three seasons at North Dakota, where he amassed 98 appearances and 76 starts. This past season, Eaglestaff averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The 6-foot-6 standout shot 41.6% from the field and 35.9% from beyond the arc.
For his efforts, Eaglestaff was named an All-Summit League Second-Team selection. Eaglestaff didn’t shy away from stiff competition. In North Dakota’s 97-90 loss to Alabama on Dec. 18, 2024, Eaglestaff exploded for 40 points while shooting 15-30 from the floor.
What’s wilder, the jaw-dropping performance wasn’t Eaglestaff’s best of the year. In North Dakota’s win over South Dakota State in the Summit League Tournament, Eaglestaff tallied a career-high 51 points on 8-18 shooting from 3-point range.
Eaglestaff is the No. 80 overall player and No. 21 shooting guard in On3’s 2025 Transfer Portal Player Rankings. He initially committed to South Carolina in the transfer portal on March 30, but decommitted from the Gamecocks just 17 days later.
“This was a difficult decision, but after discussing this with my family this is the best course of action for my future”, Eaglestaff told Jeff Goodman. “Thank you to Coach Paris and the South Carolina staff for recruiting me during this process.”
Eaglestaff played high school basketball at Bismarck (ND), where he was an unranked prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Eaglestaff was North Dakota’s 2022 Mr. Basketball.
He boasts seven school records at Bismarck, including career points (1,634), career 3’s (230), season 3’s (105), single-season points (774), most points in a game (52), field goals made in a game (18) and most 3’s in a game (10). Eaglestaff averaged 30.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as a senior.
Treysen Eaglestaff will be pivotal to the start of a new era in West Virginia. After Darian DeVries left the program to take over at Indiana, WVU hired Ross Hodge, who was the North Texas head coach from 2023-25. Hodge is excited to have Eaglestaff on his debut Mountaineers roster.
