--Co-offensive coordinator Matt Moore said they are trying to figure out some things but they are trying to focus on the fundamentals and base and strain. The biggest problem in the red zone is simply they can’t run the ball. For a team that throws as much it’s tough because they don’t have the personnel. It’s going to be a mixture of players getting better and bringing in some guys to help. They’re losing two good players and they’re on some good junior college guys they are on and they will have Josh Sills healthy but they will be better disciplined and a full off-season to get them in the direction they need to go. All of those young players have to get stronger and that comes with time.

--Junior Josh Sills has been at practice and in meetings and he is excited to get back. He is a mainstay at front and they’re looking forward to get him back hopefully for spring practice.

--TCU has been over 90-percent four downs and they have two really good inside guys and they are very impressive with how they disrupt plays.

--It’s easier to stay on a head up nose but the movement part is difficult so you have somewhere to put the ball. They move around and they are good players.

--Moore has put a lot on Colton McKivitz and he has been consistent and is athletic to do all the stuff he needs to do. They ran behind him five times on third down and got each of them.

--The design on the third down play which resulted in the false start was for the guard to move over but the signal was too late from the sideline which resulted in that.

--West Virginia threw 10-12 screens off the run game against Texas Tech but it depends on the numbers. Doege made the right read on most of those but they would have had some successful runs. It’s getting better as they go through the year and it’s helped them become the offense they are wanting to be.

--T.J. Banks has been showing them something in practice and has developed further.

--Co-defensive coordinator Vic Koenning said that the TCU quarterback Max Duggan has become a running threat and Reagar is as good of a wide receiver as there is in the league. They’re going to be as talented of an offensive line as they’ve seen all year. They schematically spread you out to run the ball and use a lot of screens and quick five out passing game. It’s unique in some respects and the same in some respects.

--There’s a lot of time to look back at what’s happened when the season is over and he has to go back and make sure he can get his players to trust them and get better. The last four games, you take out the first quarter against Tech, they’re doing things really well but they have to understand this is something they were told from the get go. He expected them to play like this and that needs to be that way.

--Oklahoma State started imposing their will in the fourth quarter and they weren’t strong enough to keep them out of the end zone. They got some things they can get better at and they will get better. If they’re all trying to make the ship go one way, then they’ll get to where they want to get to.

--Pooler has had a great four games in a row and he’s got a mentality where he can figure stuff out. He can understand C, D and E if A and B isn’t an option. They are asking him to do much more stuff and they are very proud of him. The defense has played hard, with the line playing a ton of snaps of late, but he’s done a good job.

--Koenning was proud of Kerry Martin the other day. He showed no fear and that was awesome. He knows what to do but when he plays with a sense of urgency which has been hard for him to do at times. He liked what he saw and he wants him to build on that.

--Koenning said when you get fired and go to a coaches’ convention you get treated like you have something wrong with you. It’s a sad deal but Gary Patterson couldn’t have been nicer. They’re friends and when his folks passed away Koenning reached out to him. There’s communication back and forth. He’s one of the top defensive coaches in the country and he can’t say enough praise.

--Koenning took him on his recruiting visit at Kansas State. He took him to a fraternity party and they’ve been good friends and he was in the same position meeting room and they’ve shared a lot of positive things. Patterson has gone through coaching the hard way and has had to work his way up.
