West Virginia Fan Base Named "Most Positive"

A new study shows the West Virginia Fan Base as the most positive among major schools in the NCAA beating out Virginia Tech and Oklahoma.

The article considered a variety of factors including: fair-weather support, fan incidents with opposing fans at events, tone of posts on official message boards and overall image. Over time, fair or not, each specific fan base develops some sort of reputation - whether it's generally regarded as positive, negative or indifferent. There are a number of programs that have a hard time combatting some of the actions of their fans.

When the West Virginia Mountaineers win a big game, their fans riot and burn couches. When the West Virginia Mountaineers lose a big game, their fans riot and burn couches. When it comes to reacting to a game, WVU fans don't do anything halfway, and many other fans appreciate their positivity and dedication. Huge celebrations after big wins are usually welcomed by the general college football fan base. No one criticized the giant field rushes from last year's Iron Bowl or Ole Miss' win over Alabama this season, but when West Virginia is constantly burning furniture and freaking out after games, people can't help but be impressed with the positiveness for the program.

Alabama, FSU, OSU, PSU, ND, LSU, UM, USC, UG

Pretty impressive. The most successful programs apparently have the worst Fanbases.

SteveO must be a Pitt or Marshall fan. You can't be one of the worst Fanbases if you have no Fanbase.

..........I seriously considering becoming a Notre Dame Fan. I read the other day after their loss to Kentucky in the NCAA Tourney that Irish Fans were pissed because John Calipari didn't heap enough praise on the Fightin' Irish for their loss during his post-game presser.

Im a positive fan of wv. After the Ky loss on this board you win zero awards except maybe making crap up.
