for a minute i thought we might get there.....instead of hitting a wall or in this team]'s case the ceiling. now I just hope we can finish in third place but we have to beat the Sooners another historically unbeatable team for the Mountaineers. This one is getting uglier by the minute. Best game Texas will play all year.Thought we left ours in Florida. What a nightmare!

I don't feel like a sucker....I just think this is really just what happens in WVU sports. We don't have elite teams. if you are lucky, you might see a nice run to the NCAA's and a few surprises. Then we struggle for awhile and try again in a few seasons. Its just how it is. If you want the elite programs....you are in the wrong place. I would have enjoyed a win....but we are still on the outside looking in on this conference. We also clearly just don't like to play certain teams. In time we may get stronger and more acclimated, but we will always be WVU....With teams that thrill, Chill, and sometimes.....just Lose. Hopefully we all regroup for Saturday.

West Virginia will never be anything more than just a tease. Don't know how old you are but it has been like this for the 50+ years I have been following them. Get used to it. They will never win a national championship in either football or basketball. Or maybe never win a B12 championship. It's West Virginia...it's who they are.

We are in agreement, read through my posts. Don't think we are a tease....just not good enough to win national championships. If you really love West Virginia....then that doesn't matter. i am glad we are there and we get thrilled more often than not. It could be worse.

I still believe in miracles. Miles out, Paige out, Williams in foul trouble early. Game still closer than the final score will be. We have to be lucky, have everything go our way.

Followed them for 50 years.....donated....attended games both home and away and we are still a second tier program in both BB and FB ....basically a wannabe program....it will never change

The fat lady hasn't sung yet. There are more games to play and anyone can win or lose in this conference.

We have 3 of our last 4 at home. Kansas and OU play 3 of 4 on the road. We can certainly win a share of the league title, we just really need to beat OU on Saturday and go from there!

We can still win a piece, KU still has to go to Austin.

If we hold serve at home, take down OK State at their place (shouldn't be that hard) and win at Baylor (will be a struggle) we should win a piece. KU definitely has another loss in them, although its hard to foresee 2 losses.

Not over till its over.

I would never say that we will never win a national championship.
But I wouldn't hold my breath either.

Each team/season is its own story. Just enjoy the ride for what it is and stop finding your sense of "fulfillment" or "dignity" in the performance of 18-23 year old athletes.

It's sports. Nothing more. West Virginia has many more, and much larger, problems than how well the football/basketball team is performing.

Picked 6th preseason and still fighting for a Big12 Championship in late February. I will take that every time. Plus even if WVU doesn't win the Big12 regular season outright there is still the Big12 Tournament. I would not want to be Oklahoma Saturday they will be walking into a hornet's nest. A win over Oklahoma and WVU is right back in it.

Yeah hitting their cellieng while sitting at #2 in the Big12 with a chance to get back in first Saturday.

Must be Vaulted Ceilings.

You're absolutely right. And the Berlin Wall would never come down. You should give up.

no one gave us a chance against a 35-2 Kentucky team in 2010..that Ky team made history that year by having all five starters taken in the first round of the NBA draft..

EXACTLY !!!

Plus, no one gave us a chance last year in the Sweet 16 against Kentucky either !!

Unfortunately its because of West Virginia's larger problems that many fans(WV residents) look to WVU sports to give them something more. When The Mountaineers win the state and its residents win same goes if they lose. Its always been that way and probably will never change.

But i do agree with you 100 % "Each team/season is its own story" Indeed just enjoy the ride.

DoubleX Gunn said it best. A person needs to just try and enjoy sports for what it is. Entertainment! If it is more than just entertainment..............please try and show me what I am over looking.
