Week Thirteen Pick'm

This is a sad week. No more regular season Football. What do we do except wait another 9 months. Yeah we have conference championship games and less meaningful every season Bowl games (players don't even play anymore is the growing trend), but the regular season is where it matters most. Oh well.

Bonus is same as about always which is total points scored in Oklahoma @ WVU game.

Some of the games are hopefully better than what paper says. In honor of the long cold winter of no football, I've included a few games normally NOT on Pick'm (G5). 26 games

Not to go all "Quotes" on you Allen, but-Upset of all upsets? I think you're reaching. Didn't we beat VA Tech in 03 when they were ranked 2nd or 3rd? What was BC with Flutie ranked in 84? I don't think WVU was ranked either time.

Honestly that stuff was pathetic. I think Oklahoma won because they were 10% more disciplined. WVU has little discipline on either side of the ball. Oklahoma has none on defense.

Week 13, lucky 13, wraps up the regular season. This week's winner was a tie between @MichiganHerd and @Chris from WV with 22 out of 26 correct picks. MichiganHerd also wins the regular season title with 70%/70% correct picks for all 13 weeks. The "Irregular Season" title, more than 7 weeks but not all 13, goes to.... me with 67% in 12 of 13 weeks picked.

And now, a commentary:

Every season I print out a new WVU Football schedule and I review it based on what I think WVU has as a team and what all of our opponents have and I make my picks for the season. This year I had WVU going 9-3, beating Texas and losing 3 straight to end the season. Then the Spring Game was cancelled and also the NC St game; both due to weather. It should have been a harbinger of things to come.

ISU was a surprise loss, but I always figure one game would bite us in the ass but I thought it would be TCU as WVU would be looking ahead to OSU and OU. As the season went on I thought this would be our year to sweep Oklahoma as we had done to Texas (Texas State Champs?). Losing to both on consecutive weeks is crushing. Will we ever overcome the Oklahoma curse?

Now WVU has a bowl game to play and I hope we come out on top, but I am fearful that with not much on the line Grier, Sills V and Jennings sit it out in preparation for the NFL Combine. I mean, why would they risk a potential big payday for a game that means nothing?

Good vent ExPat

WVU could play Bama and I'd pick us. I pick with my heart. I will say injuries killed us on defense. But it's part of the game. I missed the Oklahoma game-some SOB broke in my garage and busted the window out of my truck and then robbed me.

The scary thing is other than conference champ weekend and bowl season wth do we do but suffere for 8 months with no football?

Thanks to all. Especially those that administrate the Pick'm. Fun stuff, gives me a few minutes diversion each week. While I did not look back, it seems to me I am about the same rank as I was last year. However, it seems we are all down about 5% points.

Thanks to both you and @WVex-pat in GA . This was a year with some great weeks. I am going to miss it and the entire college football dynamic very soon. Thankfully we've got some conf champ games and day after day after day of bowl season coming. I get to sit around over the holidays , get fat, and drunk while watching a whole lotta college football lol. Nothing better!...well season start I guess!
