It's funny because all anyone wants to talk about in the national media (because they are too lazy to get off their asses and look beyond the generic numbers), is how awful we are shooting, and that's true to a point, but if you look at a few key guys starting with the Kansas win (9 games, roughly the last 25% of the season), it's not true, and it's been a big reason for our success and growth IMO.
3 guys in particular from the 3 point line have really shot well for the last quarter of the season over the last 9 games:
Dax 19-41 46% (+10% better than season avg)
Browne 8-17 47% (+8% better than season avg)
Carter 17-45 38% (+6% better than season avg)
Page has been pretty static at around 38% as well all year.
That's why we do have more than a puncher's chance this weekend. We don't shoot the ball near as bad as people who don't do their homework have made it sound and are going to make it sound moving forward. It's just really key that we have THE RIGHT GUYS taking those shots in games like this one, where you can't waste possessions. But if those 3 above get looks, and they probably will because the book on us is let them shoot.....it's not out of the question to knock down several of them.
And for next year, this trends in favor of being able to shoot the ball much more effectively from the outside. These guys have gotten better as the year goes on, which is a great sign and completely opposite of what has happened in the football program the last 3 years where it's been a nosedive the 2nd half of the season and we have regressed.
