Mountaineer basketball recruit Trey Doomes and his NSU University basketball teammates will attempt to slay the giant today in the championship game of the Geico High School Basketball Tournament,
The title game will be aired today at noon on ESPN2.
NSU, ranked as the third best high school team in the nation by USA Today, will be pitted against Montverde, which carries the No. 1 rating in the nation. NSU advanced into the championship contest by beating annual power Oak Hill Academy, 80-65.
Doomes displayed all of his skills in the matchup with Oak Hill, scoring 17 points, hauling down 11 rebounds, and bringing down the house with an electrifying dunk. He and his teammates will need all of that and more against Montverde, which features Duke recruit and the top schoolboy player in the nation in 6foot7 Canadian R.J. Barrett. Montverde enters the game undefeated.
Both NSU and Montverde are Florida schools.
