I have already had 2 accounts perma-banned from this website for politicking a potential RichRod or Jim Tressel hire.

HOWEVER

I am starting to see the possibility of Dana leading us to a National Championship....AKA the ONLY THING THAT MATTERS.

What has changed my mind (for the time being) is I think he is starting to understand how to play the game.

1.) No more hiring your drinking buddy to be a defensive coordinator (The Deforest hire will go down as one of the worst hires in our history). Dana has always been an offensive coach and its smart if he dedicates most of his time to coaching that side of the ball. He was always best served to hire some genius defensive mastermind (NOT CASTEEL) to coach the defense. I think we found a gem in Tony Gibson.

2.) His play calling the first 4 years has been SHAKY at best and AWFUL at worst. He has had the luxury of coaching NFL talent at all the skill positions and, quite frankly, has massively underachieved in the Win/Loss column to this point. That being said, I'm willing to admit he is HUMAN and can learn from his mistakes. The offense now looks loaded and we are playing a bunch of underclassmen. That says to me that as long as our QB isn't Paul Millard, we will have a good-to-great offense depending on talent level. In this day and age you aren't winning the NC without at least a good offense.

3.) RECRUITING. The more WR's he puts in the NFL, the more highly rated recruits will decide to call Morgantown home.

JohnnyDramaBoy...................you ain't nuthin but a joke. AKA..................a joke! We true fans warmed up to Holgs years ago. By the way.................a NC is out of the question for WV. Every stinking college in the nation is throwing money at that thing. Forget about it! Just enjoy the show Holgs is putting on. Take the Liberty game today. Pure entertainment. You could tell from the halftime and post game interviews that Holgs is a big shot and is here for the duration. Now.............bring on dem Terps!

We played for the NC in 1988 and 1993(at least a share of it) and would have played a third time if Fraud hadn't thrown the game.

Any fan who doesn't demand National Title expectations is a detriment to the program.

Up until now, Dana has had the luxury of coaching some of the best talent to ever play at WVU: Kevin White, Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, Bruce Irvin, Karl Joseph, exct..... and his record the first 4 years was 28-23 with his only accomplishment being the Orange Bowl smack down of Clemson ...during a season we got steamrolled by Syracuse.

It doesn't take a genius to understand his play calling & clock management have been a problem the entire time he has been here, while the DeForest hire was a total train wreck that murdered the 2012 season.

This is his make or break year but I gotta say...I really like the position we are in moving forward. I say we go 10-2 and make a New Years 6 bowl this year and begin 2016 in the top 10 with Howard, Durante, Gibson, Shorts, Smallwood all returning on offense and some young talent on defense waiting in the wings.

I agree, some talent at skill positions, however I believe this and most seasons hinge on the offensive and defensive lines, we shall see. It appeared several games last year that they were badly outmanned and were lacking depth. If this has been addressed I would agree that a 10 - 2 season is not out of the question. I would be pleasantly surprised.

how did you get perma bans.....but as for warming up to Dana....I have up until this year watched the same deficiencies and this year is still too early to tell. His staff has built a pretty good base of quality players so I will give him a good grade on adding depth to some needed positions.

Not that canard again. Rich did NOT "throw the game." He was stubborn with his playcalling. And even at that, a Pat White pass into the north end zone near the end still would have won the game.

A 4-7 Pitt team had no business beating that WVU team.

But, then, Maryland is scratching its head over losing to Bowling Green. You know, the team in the same conference with Akron and Ohio University.

but lets play somebody before we anoint him coach for life.

OU is the first real game.

Holgs does real good ..................especially when having his customary bad hair day coupled with a 30 pack of Red Bull and a quart jar of my pickles. Seriously, if you ain't warmed up to Holgs yet.....................that's your problem. Take a look at my moniker. I am one serious dude!
