It was headed this way eventually. Forced redistricting by liberal judges. As long as state taxes aren't raised, we should be ok. Saw an article where the medicaid cost were going to rise after this year to a pretty large number. It's not surprising. The DC "suburbs" are filled with Liberal Democrats. The western part of that state may want to consider succeeding and joining WV.

Probably should say it's getting more like Baltimore. Hopefully, not much changes in the tax laws.I hope we still stay business friendly. I'm retiring in about three years, doesn't really matter but you don't want the state you've spent half your life in going into the shitter.

In my business, Maryland can be a nightmare to do business in. Not to mention their absurd gun laws.
Compared to WV? NO doubt. Then again, Maryland has better resources too. That trade off seems to be winning for them (and Virginia).
Is that why they elected a Rep gov? To try and straighten out some of it? As a sate gets more liberal, you can see that the greater the problems are as more liberal policies are instituted. Bigger pensions that can't be met, more medicaid that can't be paid for, increase public pay that the taxpayers can't meet. Larger entitlement population. They call it bodymore for a reason.
VA expanded coverage. VA has higher debt service % (ie borrowed more to cover spending - including pensions), etc. VA does seem to blow Maryland away in education.
Yep, there was an article in the Poanoke times that there was a decrease in medicaid cost for the year but the costs were expected to rise 600 mill more than estimated for the following year.I think the two year outlook was more of the same. Medicaid and Medicare are a loser for hospitals. If they are forced to go to medicare for all, many will close.

I love the bay, I enjoy the sports teams and the culture. I love Annapolis, the eastern shore, western shore/southern MD, etc. I hate the politics and grift that goes on in the politics. The environmental shit is so stupid here with development. I didn’t realize how many palms need greased during the process. It’s insane the kickbacks on kickbacks that occur. The gun laws are retarded.
The Freddie Gray/BLM had a very serious impact to tourism and safety in the city. Cops have pulled way back on their postures. Everyone I’ve talked to has said it’s just not worth it to put yourself at risk without city hall’s backing. Businesses downtown are suffering because of it. PGC is a fvcking war zone in parts of it.
It’s insanely expensive to live here. Townhouses go for $3-400k, ditto for shitty single family homes. Schools in the county are really good. Private schools (everyone with any money uses) are insanely good but expensive. It ranges from the $8k for the low end, $12-17k per year for the mid tier catholic and OD schools, to the $23-28k for the top end.
Taxes aren’t oppressive, but are plentiful. Gov. Hogan is the tits.
