Let me preface this by saying that you guys do a tremendous job and I really like the recruiting coverage, particularly on the football side. So don't take this as a slight.
But I just had a couple thoughts for some interesting articles that might be worth your consideration.
First thought, and maybe this is something for Rivals generally, or at least someone not directly affiliated with a particular team site. I think it would be interesting to have a piece that interviews some of the top HS coaches and uncommitted players from a particular geographic region about the perceptions they have of college programs that frequently recruit the area. Could even attribute quotes to anonymous players/coaches if needed to get particularly candid feedback. Something more in-depth than the "Well, they had a nice food court, and I really want to study animal husbandry, so obviously Pitt was a great choice!" For example, an article with interview snippets from conversations with top players and coaches in the WPIAL on what their general perceptions are of Pitt, WVU, Penn State, etc. "When players think of WVU, they think of ____." "Players being recruited by Pitt first have to overcome the perception that ____." or "When a coach from Penn State shows up at your school, your first thought is ____." I think that would be fascinating, particularly because half the time those kids choose Pitt no one can even begin to guess WTF they are thinking.
Second thought... Have you ever thought about having a Team Recruiting Piece where you have one article that discusses all of the WVU prospects being recruited, but also discusses our ties to the school, and maybe has some comments from the coach of the school regarding his experiences sending players to WVU or having kids recruited by WVU? I'm thinking of a team like Lackawanna JC in particular, given the 2-3 kids (at least) that we are recruiting from there this year, and the track record of putting guys like White and Glowinski into the NFL. I think that would make for an interesting read. Would also help solidify our relationship with that school.
Just throwing ideas out there. Feel free to tell me to kick rocks. Apologies if you guys already do something like this, I just must have missed the articles.
