I have a 6 person matchup parlay for today's round......I think I went overboard. Think Rahm will win, but also put some money on Hovland and Finau.

I read the USGA tried to make the setup "easier" this week. I hope it's not too easy, but I also hate the torture porn golf the USGA usually looks for.

I put $20 on Webb Simpson Tuesday. Nice odds, and hell, if he wins, decent payout, if not, it's just $20.00, or four pints of beer.

Webb is the longest straightest driver on Tour. Chamblee likes him.

Dark horse for me would be Berger, Xander and webb are two to consider. Of course the two favorites are DJ and Rahm.

So glad they are basically showing the entire tournament. It's 2020, why do they still just show windows of tournaments. Also, I think all majors should be played on the West Coast. I love those primetime events.

Gotta admit I don't mind seeing the pros deal with the wacky setups once a year. Not sure I'd be interested to see that kind of stuff in Connecticut or New Orleans during a typical Tour event; but I like seeing them have to play a different game than their normal bomb-it-over-all-the-trouble.

Meanwhile, I'd sure like to see Tony Finau find a way to put together 4 good rounds for once.......and I wouldn't mind seeing Xander break through himself. But I gotta admit the DJ/Rahm game has been pretty fun to watch the past month or so.

All majors should be played in states where the taxes are the lowest.

The USGA has gone over the edge many times and have ruined courses like Chambers Bay , Shinnecock and Oakmont in recent years. Winged Foot this year looks fine. It is tough and I don't see anything tricked up.

USGA had nothing to do with chambers bay, it was the terrible grass on the greens that was used. One of my classmates from dental school is a member at Oakmont and I have a standing invite to play but I have to stay for two days. My wife beats me up enough, don't need a golf course to do that. Shinnecock way back, lost their greens because of the USGA and it took the members a long time to bring back the Open.

I don't agree. Leading up to Chambers, there was a lot of communication how USGA had hired RTJ's relatives to work on the course. During the championship, there were admissions of mistakes made.

The grass on the greens was supposed to hold off the poa annua, but it didn't. It was a mistake and they have now replaced it with poa annua that is common to that area. Actually, re-sodded the greens.

I looked it up it was Pierce County exec who hired RTJ Jr's firm to do the work. USGA rarely gets involved in things like that since most of the courses are already built. Now, they are moving some things to Pinehurst for the next Open there.

I am switching to all regular shafts in everything. I had them in the Mizuno irons. I tried a regualr shaft in the Sim Max driver and hit it better a further than my old M2 with a stiff shaft. I'm changing out my 3 and 5 metal from stiff to regular as soon as they get here. My driver came inside a week, the 3 wood head is on back order. I think the 5 wood will get here next week. If you haven't hit it, try the Sim, it has a nice soft feel to it.

Had a chance to visit Chambers Bay last year (actually next Friday will be 1 year ago) and took a handful of shots. Slightly different geography than I'm used to :grimace: still, public or otherwise, hardly a track for an out-of-practice old fart hacker like me.

I have regular shafts in everything but my driver. Was planning on getting anew driver this year but didn't. When I do, most likely will be regular.

Have you guys ever golfed at Williams Country club in Weirton. Years ago when I was a kid caddying there they kept trying to get a PGA tournament there but the club wanted nothing to do with it. Said it would ruin the course. If you have never golfed there you should make plans to do. Probably the prettiest course I have ever been on.

Pretty sure all the greens were re-sodded with native poa annua.

With an afternoon tee time, if the winds pick up and course dries out, it will be difficult for any afternoon tee time to go under par.

Im hoping the wind holds off, but with that 1:16pm tee time, you may be right. Lefty will be hurting as well Since he’s got an afternoon tee time.

I just have a big shaft....period

Yeah. I don’t think they wanted people to be -5 after the first round.
Pretty damp this morning, have the golf channel in my patient treatment rooms and NBC, rare do you get balls backing up 30 feet at an open. They've had a lot of rain

In that climate, I'd imagine poa is pretty hard to avoid/manage....so why not just go along with it.
Not the best putting surface. Not sure why A4 or A1 A4 wouldn't be fine. 007 is great. Not sure how it would do there. There are chemicals that keep Poa abated. Poa is what you find at Pebble and it's not a great putting surface in the afternoon for sure
