Rumor: UConn unlikely to ever join Big 12 but Pac-12 schools, six ACC schools can join

Conference realignment has drawn a hard line in the sand, and it'll have effects on the Big 12, Pac-12, and ACC

Longtime college sports radio host Greg Swaim reports that basketball-only schools won't be joining the Big 12 anytime soon; eliminating the chance UConn ever brings Dan Hurley's dynastic college hoops program to Brett Yormark's basketball-centric conference. While the Huskies football program wasn't deemed big-time enough for the Big 12, Oregon State, Wazzu, and six ACC schools were.
Swaim believes the ACC will lose Power conference status with the losses. The Big 12, though, would become the country's biggest conference with 24 members.

IMO - if the Big XII is going to expand, then they should raid the PAC-2 and take those schools.

And put even more power on that side of the country? Do you really think WVU, UCF, and UC should be in that conference? No thanks.
IMO - unless the ACC collapses, if the Big Xii expands, then they'll be reaching down to a Costal Carolina and hoping to grow and mature that program.

Would Big 12 really go above 20?

Hopefully it's 4 ACC teams.
It doesn’t even matter the number of schools anymore. All conferences have devolved into just a scheduling alliance with shared revenue. So no harm in adding Oregon State or Wazzou at this point since like half their old conference is here anyway.

It’s common sense the B12 needs to look at the ACC and not the PAC2. It’s just a waiting game to see if Clemson, FSU can get out of the ACC GOR. At that point, let the dominoes fall. It will hopefully open up the possibilities of going after VT, Pitt, Louisville, and maybe NC State or Georgia Tech. Not sure if they would want Syracuse or BC

VT, Miami, and sPitt can rot....

This is what they get for jumping ship and leaving us high and dry.

Miami yes. They personally destroyed the Big East and it became a method of survival for everyone else. Point is, WVU would’ve done the same, we just didn’t have the option to go to the ACC.

Well WVU did initiate the contact with Pitt so they could be prepared and work together to prevent it from happening. WVU would have definitely looked out for No. 1 if forced to but at least they made a real effort to work together.
True
