Two Years In A Row!

At least last year it was in the Sweet 16 to a super stacked Kentucky team. This one is way more gut wrenching.

I agree. But it is a fact that two years in a row this team has ended the season with supremely embarrassing losses in the NCAAs.

As embarrassing as last year's game was I am finding this year's loss to be perhaps the most pathetic loss in all my years of following the Mountaineers.

Tonight was an absolutely disgraceful abortion of an atrocity on every level. In Mountaineer basketball history, I'd rate it 2d-worst only to the unforgivable 1958 NCAA tournament first-round catastrophe.

1958 was a team that lost its point guard in the Southern Conference Tournament with a broken leg. And then we have to play Manhattan in New York City.

I hear you, Woody, but I still believe a #1-ranked 26-1 team minus its point guard--yet still with Jerry West--ought to find a way to beat a mediocre 15-9 team that probably shouldn't have been in the tournament.

Of course, if you want to make the argument that tonight's loss was even more unforgivable I certainly couldn't find too much fault with that perspective right now.
