Turf...

They're getting rid of the huge crown on the field...right ?

If so, when they do I'm guessing a new surface is mandatory.

What a post from people that supposedly follow WV athletics. LGM[WVU]

Is this directed at me? IF so, I think you might want to reconsider such a condescending statement from a board regular that has been a member of Vernon's WVU boards (in different formats) since the mid-90's.

Don't believe me, you can ask him yourself.

Yep, it's been bad for a few years now. New turf will really brighten up the stadium. It will be a night and day difference next season. Next project should be new video board and sound system.

I also support going with coal brick stadium walls. I like the blue wrapping but it does look a bit cheap. Coal brick stadium walls would look amazing.

Touchy? No, I am making an observation on what I remember seeing over the last handful of seasons, compared to what it looks like now.

Not really sure why you are so concerned about my question other than to troll.

"What a post from people that supposedly follow WV athletics"

Really? You sound like the clowns that went back and forth way back during the latter days of Nehlen's tenure... you know, the you're not a true fan because... mantra.

Or, more recently sounding like the fans that flip out over the fact Dana wears a black polo and questions his loyalty to WVU.

Are you that concerned by my question to even bother posting?

Honestly, sounds like a personal problem to me. OCD much?

I can be a grouch if I detect buffoonery in response to my posts. That was what I was getting. So let's clear that up...

The fact he completed 16 of 25 passes for 359 yards, two TD's and no INTs for stats at the reigns isn't too bad.

I am not sure if it was nerves or the fact Dana yelled at everyone at halftime (Dana stated this in a post-game interview) that they need to score that fired Skylar up.

Just from listening to the radio broadcast via the internet, there was a noticeable improvement in his getting the offense down the field comparing the halves.

Little touchy aren't we. You should already know they are going to replace the turf. Comments about the game would be more appropriate. And congratulations for being a member.LGM[WVU]
Why not just skip his post if you thought it wasn't appropriate enough for you?

This thread is a prime example of why I only visit these boards every few weeks anymore. Too many personal attacks after someone brings up a valid question. Yes, many people know about the removal of the crown and turf replacement after this season, but I didn't know about it until I read about it online a few weeks back. My life is not WVU sports 24/7. And I have been a member of this site for a number of years too. Irrelevant. I know things are better on the Blue Lot, but to pay money to read the opinions of others seems like such a waste to me. I tried it years ago and it was a waste of money, IMO. I am fine with reading breaking news a day after it happens. No offense to Vernon and his hard working staff. This free board used to be so much fun to read. Provided hours of entertainment for me over the years. Now it is just filled with worthless drivel from over-inflated egomaniacs.

Hey go easy on him......Its really the only thing his kind can complain about today....Amazing how many so called fans dissapear from this board after a win like last nights isnt it?

Am I complaining? Says the man who doesn't get it when it comes to DeFo.

Which is why I asked...

Here's a back story on just WHY I am not on here as much as I want to be, or up to speed as much as I prefer:

I just retired from the USAF in Feb after 22 years and frankly most of it was getting burned out and sick of the politics at the senior enlisted ranks (I retired as an E-7/Master Sergeant). I was unemployed until this summer, where I finally got picked up for a Federal Position here at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

Well gee, imagine that! Your priorities change a whole crap ton when you have to worry about ensuring your wife and kids have shelter and putting food on the table, while we all barely get by on a retirement pension in support of them… Why should I be worrying about the upcoming renovation of the football field surface or anything else not a priority at that moment versus having the opportunity to mention and ask now after things are starting to stabilize? Gee, how dare I put my priorities into proper perspective? How dare I ask a simple question in order to get up to speed? Right Vault? Because where I came from, NOT asking even the simplest question to ensure you were on the 'same sheet of music' could get people hurt, or even killed. Granted, this is none of that, but again the principle of just asking is the crux.

FACT: Post 9-11 Veterans (and military retirees too) have a much harder time finding a job right now than the non-military person. It is even more difficult statistically than what the retirees were dealing with prior to 9-11... So, even though I have a job, plus supplemental pension, my focus is on my job, progressing in it to promote and regain income equivalent, or better, that I had while in the military to live comfortably. My family and I stayed with family in N Virginia, while I searched for jobs and hoped, just maybe, I would get an interview for a decent job close to home. Well, I am not close to home, but I am thankful to have this job. There’s been a lot of that with military families of late… even more than the average ‘Joe Citizen’ is aware of, versus being out on the street and homeless.

And yet, we have some ignorant 'kids' who throw out the 'you must not be a real fan because...' bull s**t (Yes I am talking to you Vault and to an extent you too BubbamanWV) that feel they have a right to receive an explanation when one shouldn’t be given.

Honestly, I am under no obligation to provide one to either of you even though I did. Or, any other Jackwagon that thinks they’re entitled to one as to why I may not be up to speed presently.

Does that answer your presumptuous and pretentious comments and questions?

If you were such an expert at WVU, you would know that originally the turf was scheduled to be replaced this last off season, but that was postponed after Luck left...but you are so up on WVU athletics that you would know that, right?

Lesson: Don't be a douchebag...

This thread is full of ego's.... Look at me, Look at me.... I'm a true fan....

And the whole thread degenerated into this mess because some thought their ego's were more important than answering the question that other's graciously answered.

Utah is amazing! You have the best of the mountainous and green terrain here in N and E Utah near Salt Lake City and Logan... Then maybe drive about an hour W/SW or 2 hours or further S and hit desert terrain. I am told the skiing out here is much different than back east. I guess they never experienced skiing at Canaan Valley or Snowshoe, even though the elevation is lower than the 8k-12k peaks of the Wasatch and Uintah Mountains.

Was out in Phoenix a few years ago over New Years, enjoying the 70 degrees and sunshine, took 2 days and went up to Grand Canyon...the next intention was for Monument Valley and Zion I think was the park? Ran into a wall of a snowstorm and had to turn back unfortunately about a half hour from the Utah border. I also remember the unreal backdrop images of the Wasatch Mtns during the Olympic broadcasts from Salt Lake...hope to make it there in the next year or 2!

Best time to come is in the early Fall or late Spring when the temps are still tolerable. It does get hot here and has crossed over into the low 100's several times this summer, but the humidity is low. We share in the misery of a drought here and The Great Salt Lake has been receding for several years. Antelope Island looks more like a peninsula than an actual island now.

congrats on your retirement!! If I woulda stayed in, I would be retiring in January!!

Thanks! It feels great to be retired. A lot of stress involved with my job has fell by the wayside and I am enjoying retired life from the military. Yeah, I am still working for the government but it's totally different on the 'civi' side. I couldn't handle the stupidity anymore and constantly getting yelled at for things I tried to keep within the fine line afforded to myself and other E-7's like me doing the same job. My experience there really soured my off-duty time to enjoy what Europe had to offer. Liked touring Europe, but will not miss the last three years of my time in the Air Force. I will also miss those no speed limit zones on the Autobahn.

I agree, love the state outline at midfield with the flying WV. However, the font in the end zones would be a change but I would go for it.
