To be honest, my real frustration with HCNB

was over his style of offense... After the RR and DH years, I got used to a more of an attack style of office, where we pushed the ball down the field...and under HCNB...the style was more passive....and that was annoying as &@^*$^@

It's okay to give up forty points a game, just as long as you're scoring 41 points a game.

I agree. Little things like not being aware that you’re outnumbered on the edge when you try to run a wide receiver screen. Not using your blockers to block and your skill positions to handle the ball. Giving your running back 9 carries in a game that he’s averaging over 7 yards per carry while forcing the ball around with a quarterback with accuracy concerns. Icing on the cake? Running a gadget play to a potential first round draft pick while getting blown out at the end of his career, risking his entire future for no reason.

I've said it before. It was like watching a Jeff Mullen offense on downers.

Would rather have a defense and score 41.

My problem with Neal was his loyalty. Which is good but if it ain't working you got try something else.

Mine with Brown was his inability to put all the pieces together at once.

For example, a great o-line, decent running backs, a decent QB, but no receivers worth a crap. The next year, it would be something else like better receivers but a 50% QB. Frustrating...

Defensively, it was the same thing. One part always seemed to be missing, like LB's or CB's but good lines or safeties.

Really, came down to a lack of player recruiting as all the pieces were there, just never at the same time.

For those of us who regularly listen to his press conferences and radio show, its hard to ignore that the worst thing about Brown wasn't really his system but rather his own softness and loser mentality. He's weak for this level of coaching. He would rather have things like equality than win. He runs a player led team and that's his biggest downfall. His whole coaching philosophy is weak. He is soft. It just is what it is.

Yeah, NB was married to his RPO offense, and he was determined to run it h*ll or high water. He did not care how well it fit his personnel. If he threw in a variation, it was for only 1 or 2 plays per game. He valued player senority over talent. He was passive with his offense when he got a lead.

However, his offense and player management were not my only frustrations. His loyalty to his assistants and not holding them accountable and firing them when they needed to be fired is another. This is perhaps an even bigger reason he is looking for a new job. The only assistant he had that I had respect for was Vic Koenning. And, posters are going to jump on me about how Vic Koenning -- but I don't care! If you listened and carefully observed Vic, you understood he could coach D. If he would have been able to stick around, he would have eventually got our D in decent shape.

I literally can't believe the people who love him let him go on the radio this morning in Morgantown and sit there and make a bunch of excuses, wow. These people are tone def and Hoppy is the ring leader. He said he takes ownership of it and nothing in his voice was convincing that he actually does, but immediately after he said that he followed with "but" and the excuses come out in full swing. How sad to see. This is one of the reasons he lost a bunch of fans, but people like Hoppy will talk about how courageous it was to get in the radio to say his goodbyes. The thing is, in reality it only would have been courageous if he literally took ownership for a change and stopped yapping his chops. Good riddance to this weak garbage. Now Hoppy and Caridi are going to go on there and act like the wimps they are fawning over Brown lol. I will not miss this and I hope we hire someone edgy and alpha just to spite those guys. They hate the manly men types.
