You see the endless anti BIg 12 posers stating that because things don’t happen instantly in realignment for the BIG 12 that they won’t or can’t.

But there are some things we know.

The PAC is in a thirty day negotiating period with ESPN. That will end August 5th.

Also, Notre Dame is in a three week negotiating period with NBC— which may have implications for future BIG 12 tv deals.

Also, the new BIG 12 commissioner doesn’t officially start until August 1.

All of that points to potential developments starting to happen after August 1 2022 and not necessarily before.

To the topic, it will be rats off a sinking ship.

The numbers will leak. About a week ahead of that 8/5 deadline. That new Commish will be starting then. His first day will be mucho loco.

ND won't give a single shit about anyone or anything until after they are done with NBC. I'll guess any B12 deal with NBC will be very limited and will center on ND games only. Expect a bunch of neutral site games if that happens.

And the above will end up about the same time the PAC negotiations end.

Then it will be about money and access.

Ahh I see, another acc shill derailing a thread- gotcha.
You said those misnomers not me.
And in no way am I an ACC fan. Not at all. Now if you said a SEC fan well ok then. And even then I don’t care for South Carolina and Georgia.

So there is a chance that if further realignment in the near term is going to happen, we will hear about it sometime in August.

Many people believe that ND may make a decision once they’ve finished up with NBC whether or not to join the Big Ten.

If that does happen maybe the SEC makes their ACC moves at that time?

We shall see. But for the BIG 12, PAC schools will have the ESPN portion of rights offerings. After that initial offering either they’ll accept that, schools that can will move, or the conference will move on to the open market to see if other bidders have interest. If they do then ESPN could try to match those offers.

But it’s likely the sports media will begin hearing behind the scenes what possibilities the PAC schools are choosing from and what each May choose to do.

If ND re ups with NBC, then this probably indicates NBC is going to be looking at working with a P5 conference for the mentioned “shoulder” games— likely good for the BIG 12 which will soon be moving into their own contract negotiations.

Even Jon Wilner--PAC 12s number one journalist, understands that the PAC is likely done. He throws jabs at the BIG 12 one day,, then the next puts out that the BIG 12 is the landing spot for many PAC schools most likely and that the BIG 12 has the upper hand should more realignment occur.

But if you read his articles, they mostly conclude that A) Pac schools are going to leave. B) The BIG 12 is a likely landing spot when all is said and done.

Here's a blurb from a day or two ago from the Seattle Times by Wilner illustrating his understanding of the timeline of unfolding events:

From the Seattle Times per Jon Wilner

4. Tricky timing for Oregon and Washington

In an ideal world, the Pacific Northwest powers would do absolutely nothing for the next two years.

They would remain exactly where they are, without a long-term contract binding them to either the Pac-12 or the Big 12.

Why? Because free agency is the place until the Big Ten and Notre Dame finish their long, slow dance.

Notre Dame’s contract with NBC expires at the conclusion of the 2025 season, clearing the way for the Irish to join the Big Ten for ’26 — the first year of the expanded College Football Playoff.

And if the Big Ten adds a 17th team, it would need an 18th — and possibly a 19th and 20th, as well.

Washington and Oregon would be strong candidates, as would Stanford (because of the academic reputation and Bay Area media market).

Part of the challenge for Kliavkoff as he attempts to hold the conference together is crafting an agreement that serves two masters:

— Binding enough to induce quality bids from potential media partners.

— Flexible enough to satisfy Pac-12 schools with one eye on the Big Ten.

So WHY, if you are the four corners schools, would you sign off with Oregon or Washington? They are going to LEAVE THE PAC 12 at the first opportunity and you know it. They aren't making it a secret.

The next iteration of the college playoff would also start just when Wilner discusses the Irish joining up with the Big Ten --in 2026. Very likely the timeline for ND, ACC and also PAC schools who can to move, in that 2025-2026 window.
