Respected sports FOX SPORTS journalist Tim Brando interview with very interesting insights on college football and realignment:

Some points

--sees the BIG 12 as in the best position of the non B10/SEC leagues

Doesn't see a "Power 2" at all even though the B10 and SEC will likely continue to be the highest paid

Sees the ACC as the MOST vulnerable conference right now, expects lawyers to be involved with getting ACC teams out because the revenue gap is just too enormous.

ND will not bail out the ACC, if they were going to they already would have.

Why don't you post all your talk of the exact same thing in the same thread? It is what you wanted.

If you read other schools boards--most do not allow 500 threads by the same posters i.e bashing the coaching staff, former AD, etc.

Why do those who run WVU boards allow this?

Since nothing is being done to clean up the boards--which ARE viewed by recruits and their families--would it at least be possible to put the endless threads attacking the coaching staff into just ONE thread?

Seriously, why are these people allowed to make thread after thread after thread on the same subject? There's no benefit to this--they can run their endless drivel in one thread can't they? So that other topics such as games, etc. can be discussed?

Why have a board if its just for trolling and endless attacks on the West Virginia University athletic programs?

That’s why I believe this entire “super conference” idea by the SEC and Big 10 is gonna prove to be a massive failure. It will only lead to schools going back to being Independent. After a short while, Texas,Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan etc are gonna get tired of “carrying Vanderbilt and Indiana” and giving a large share of their revenue. Eventually they will also get tired of GOR requirements entrapping them in conferences. Combine that feeling with the collapse of viewership and fan interest, it’s only inevitable.

I'm waiting for one of the conferences to take a hint from European soccer and employ a relegation system. You suck for X number of years...and you're done

As Brando thinks, It’s unlikely that this two superconferences and everyone else relegated theory is just something being pushed. But it isn’t reality yet, maybe never.

But money is going to drive schools from conference to conference, and certain collections of schools will likely get more revenue from this or that media outlet.

It’s always been that the lowest paid confernce gets broken up. Well the PAC and the ACC have been the lowest paid ( per school) conferences. ACC shills lied about this for a decade, but it remains true and they can’t hide from it anymore. PAC fans pushed the idea that their conference was superior to the BIG 12, but that has been proven false over and over. The destruction they hoped for the BIG 12 schools is upon them now. Because, they were always worth less To media partners.

So now some of them are going to go the way of USF, UConn etc. Left behind. In the PAC it’s like they know it— they are trying really hard to get the BIG 12 to absorb the entire conference if you read the articles, all the while pretending still they have some upper hand over the BIG 12 Or that conference is stable even though schools are actively seeking to exit. But that phony narrative isn’t going to pay them SEC or Big Ten money or Keep some schools from leaving.

That would play too much havoc on finances--you couldn't build facilities cause after your construction you could rapidly lose your ability to pay for it. Also scheduling for everyone would be very difficult if people were moving up and down.

In other words, exactly what I've said the past few days. Except he is wrong about the ACC. They are slightly less vulnerable than the PAC 12. They are both dead men walking. It's just a matter of when.

The Big 10 did us a massive favor by completely destabilizing the Pac 12.

It’s really all about timing. Had the Big 10 acted first and taken USC, UCLA -the PAC 12 would’ve likely picked up BYU, Houston, and 2 more Big 12 teams. And the SEC would’ve taken Texas and Oklahoma and the Big 12 would be the conference ready to implode.

Funny how people go out of their way to imagine negatives for the BIG 12 no matter what.

It has always been that the lowest paid conferences with smaller fanbases were vulnerable since expansion/realignment begun--the exception probably being the origianal BIG 12 which broke up due to internal strife caused of course by Texass.

The ACC and Pac aren't in danger now because of "timing", but because they were considered the least valuable conferences. The BIG 12 was once again done in by Texass--this time joined by OU--and money (were the third highest revenue per team conference). ACC and PAC tried to ignore the per school part and pounded their chests on the "overall" money (more than the BIG 12 because they had more schools, but far less per school). They apparently convinced themselves that the per school part didn't matter--but to their institutions it always has. Now that problem is coming to the surface as more revenued conferences seek to make themselves even more valuable.

PAC is teetering on the cliff. But completely destabilized? Not yet. B12 can push them off the edge by taking AZ, AZSt, Utah, Colorado. Forget Ore/Wash. They would most likely be rented for a couple years till B1G decides what they want to do. Moving to the more coveted Eastern market programs would be the best move after taking those 4 and destroying the PAC.
If B12 doesn't move quickly the PAC could backfill with SDSU, Boise and possibly a couple B12 teams. BYU to the PAC ala what TCU did when they "decommitted" from the BE?

Correct, TIMING. But that timing has passed and PAC is vulnerable. Now the B12 is in the drivers seat IF...... Yourmark has the nads to go for the throat of the PAC. Otherwise the PAC could be back in the drivers seat.

Things and perception and opinions changed a lot from this time last year. As they will this time next year.

When you say move quickly, what do you mean?

Yormarck has stated multiple schools have contacted him about joining the BIG 12. He has said the conference is open to expansion and will add if it makes financial sense.

Yormarck can’t add schools without them first submitting an application for membership. Right now the PAC is still in a 30 day exclusive negotiating period with Fox and ESpn— little chance they would leave before they have some comparison of finances and Wilner reported the PAC plans to see what they can get on the open market once that exclusive window closes (because per reports Fox declined to bid and Espn lowballed).

On top of that Yormarck doesnt officially begin until August 1, 2022. The BIG 12 can’t officially do its tv negotiations until 2024.

So there isn’t likely to be any rushing on either side unless the B10 raids further or a PAC school decides to just go ahead and jump before getting some more information about the PAC.

If my prediction plays out. Monday will be a crazy first day for the new Commish but you won't hear the fallout of that day for a week or so. ESPNs bid will be official 8/5 and then shit will get real.

Yormarck needs to act within the next 2 weeks. If we don't then we will get dunked on and that will be his legacy forever.

Again, in order for him to act on anyone, you do realize that they must submit a request to be admitted to the BIG 12 first? So I ask again what exactly do you want him to do?

Give a time line for us to accept their bid. After that they can pound rocks. Considering the bid, it won't take much of a push.
