A plant that is safer than alcohol, tobacco, red bull, caffeine, fast food, Tylenol + any other medication, sugar, playing football, red meat, etc. I could on all night.

I see good chance of 4 game losing streak coming up, at least a 4 game.

Swamp- thought it was hard to beat UF down there with Holton? Without Holton? No chance.

ISU- Hilton Magic+ no Holton = Iowa State running away.

Baylor at home = they are very athletic/lengthy, can rebound, got a few shooters, etc. We need rebounds but unless Devin Williams gains confidence, we will get outrebounded significantly. Not to mention our record vs Baylor since WVU entered Big 12 hasn't been that good. Even that 1 year before Big 12 entry, they beat WVU in that Las Vegas tournament.

Kansas in Lawrence, no chance of a win. With or without Holton. They just simply almost win every game there especially against conference teams.

We all know losing streaks are hard to climb out of. Only silver lining is that WVU already has 17 wins so they should be able to sneak in the NCAA Tournament as a 7/8 seed.

lol, "throwing the season away"

3 games...... Of which you openly state WVU won't win even with Jon Holton....

So why freak out?

Paying a student athlete or giving them a flipping sandwich is a victimless crime as well, but still against the rules. Agree or disagree, its still against the law and runs the risk of even stiffer problems down the road if you were caught by law enforcement. Therefore, it must be addressed in some way. Also, Marijuana is not a really dangerous substance, but to say that it is worse than caffeine, Tylenol, and red meat is just not true. Now I agree with your position that allowing alcohol but demonizing marijuana is a double standard, but making baseless assertions hurts your position.

bEER...he violated the current rules and his punishment will be minor relatively speaking in the big picture...a bit of herb is not the end of the world but to call it a 'victimless crime' is quite frankly ....nonsense. I would think he'll learn from the whole experience, stuff like responsibility, and accountability....especially to his teammates.

He broke a team rule. He disrespected his teammates. He disrespected his school and its fans. Period.

WVU is an educational institution. If he learns from this, then WVU and Coach Huggins have fulfilled their role as an educator.

Get over yourself. By your standard, 98% of WVU students disrespect the school. That's a nice high horse you got there.

just a few games. b12 title hopes will take a hit. but that's not the prize we want.

I see no logical explanation for why WV hasn't already legalized Marijuana since our infrastructure is a pile of poop. From potholes to no plows and everything in between. it's never a good day to drive in WV. They have no money, they gotta find other revenue streams than raising taxes on everyone else.

I guess you don't live in the real world either.
Oh I do...I have plenty of friends who choose to partake and I dont fault or judge them for it...but if I were lucky enough to play for scholarship and a bright future I also make a choice to abide by the rules as CLEARLY laid out to me and forego the marijuana for a while...he rolled the dice and figured he'd get away with it...he was wrong.

Holton isn't being punished for doing it.....but doing it again...... While still on unsupervised probation......and "influencing" another individual to be involved as well....

But 3 games, and it's a non issue

I do agree with that. But I still always thought we had a fighting chance against UF, ISU, and Baylor. Now, there's no chance unless Devin can find his game like he was playing earlier in the season. I'm just really worried the team is going to fall into a dark place and lose all confidence especially when there are no cupcakes in this league to help the men to tasting victory again and building confidence.

LOL - Good for you.

And let me guess, you also wouldn't cheat on your wife if Kate Upton offered you head or break the speed limit if you drove a Lamborghini?

It's easy to make hypothetical decisions from your Lazy Boy.

There's never a shortage of sanctimonious ass-hats when a young black basketball player breaks the rules....odd.

Did we fall into a 'dark place' when both Staten and Browne were out last season? We didn't win many during that time, but it definitely progressed our roster through opportunity

It never gets old, middle-aged Canadian men talking about what they would do if they were a young D1 college basketball player....

They would dunk it everytime, and be in bed by 9:30 PM....asleep with their Biology 101 book next to them.

Good grief...who the hell mentioned anything about race? Maybe you need to kick back with a good spliff soon...

Sanctimonious...high horse...anyone else see the irony here? Gsus...wtf has gotten into you tonight...just a foul mood 'eh'?!?

So...we should have a nation without rules and laws? I am totally comfortable with my standard.

Yes - That's exactly what I'm advocating. A nation with no laws. Pure anarchy - get real old man.

I dont doubt you're comfortable with your standard, I'm just certain you don't live up to it.

Nice to see you never grew the f*** up, Don. It's not about the drug. It's the fact that he was caught doing something he shouldn't have been. Just like urinating in public drunk on High Street, you do the crime you do the time. I wish he were smarter but this isn't the place for the legalize movement. Even if it were legal, he would be scrutinized just like if it were alcohol.

You are absolutely correct. I fall short in my daily walk.

Kind of reminds me with the Tiger Woods situation when everyone started hating him (but we all know the real reason, a black guy dominating a white sport but the adultery gave them a cover) but we all know if they were placed in Tiger Wood's shoes, they would have done the same or at least 90% of them.

I see your point but peeing in public is not a victimless crime. Since you're in public around other people and didn't get their consent to urinate in front of them. I wish more laws were based on consent vs no consent. For example, drinking at home is ok but drinking and driving is not ok because you did not receive the consent of fellow drivers on the road. I support marijuana legalization but I do not support driving while high. They should be charged for a DUI. It should be treated the same as alcohol.

I will bet on the team playing better and more focused. Still sticking with 3-1 over the next 4. WVU will be charging out of the gate at Florida. This is just another reason for people to doubt them and they will respond big time.

. Maybe he actually uses it because it calms him down and he is able to focus better which resulted in less bonehead fouls more points and more rebounds plus being able to anticipate where to be on offense and defense. I know that's an impossible concept for some people but, what if..........:flushed:

And people who are judging him he is a college kid. He is going to make mistakes in life. Any of you questioning Holton's passion for WVU should be ashamed. I'm sure HE knows he messed up and is hurting right now. Holton loves WVU and WVU'S fans and no one can question that. If he learns from it and becomes a better man then that's the right thing. If not he might never learn. Either way stop acting like he stole a lap top or robbed a pizza delivery guy at gun point. He likes pot and sex. So what if some of you did too you wouldn't be as miserable and come on a message board to constantly bash other people who put their heart and soul in to your supposedly beloved school.

Just curious about the team rules. Do they make any rules regarding alcohol and prescription drugs? Is it the fact that it is an illegal substance or because it affects mood and performance that it was against rules? Do all schools have a fairly uniform stance on pot? Did he fail a THC drug test (which stays in the system for 30 days) or was he intoxicated during practice? Sucks to lose Holton, he has been a consistent player all year and is key to the press.

Look .... there are no laws against stupid and Mr. Holton has a track record of doing some pretty stupid things. This is nothing new.

The team tests for drug usage, right? If it is a known possibility that the team is going to test for drug usage and you are caught using then not only do you suffer the consequences of your action you also confirm to the world that your elevator doesn't go to the top floor.

Hopefully this is just one of those occasional goof-ball incidents/personalities that can be afflicted on many teams. The timing is very unfortunate. But hopefully this is an issue that passes and not the beginning (at WVU) of even more stupidity.

Some realism here, if that's allowed.

The seeding committee will take into consideration any losses while Holton is suspended if he's on the team for March Madness. Thus, no #7 or #8 seed. Much higher.

Guys that age are stupid. I was at that age. You probably were, too.

Yes, he broke the rules and should pay the penalty.

But every WVU loss during his absence will be on him, in some eyes. And Holton will see that he hurt his teammates. He cares about those guys.

It's a perfect life lesson that, in the long run, may help this team win the national title. But it sucks right now. The 3 games are all in greater jeopardy.

Oh, heck, let's get us some Gator jerky!

I bring you the unsanctimonious rule breaker...who does this guy think he is anyway?

I keep hearing that kids will be kids and that weed is okay. NEWS FLASH - kids have to live up to their responsibilities
or pay the consequences - Holton is learning that painful lesson. He wasn't ambushed - pure and simple he did not
live up to his responsibilities.

I was only upset that Tiger gave up the women and his game went to crap.
