Been a busy last 24 hours for me, but wanted to drop by with some thoughts on WVU's two new Midwest commits.
I have been watching Martell Pettaway since early in his HS career. Originally started out at Saint Clair Shores (Mich.) South Lake HS, he recently transferred over to Detroit King where he will play with a very talented Crusaders squad in 2015. That should help his game, because he didn't have a lot of weapons around him at South Lake and was the focal point of every defense. I remember watching Pettaway go head-to-head with 2015's No. 1 running back, Damien Harris, at the Best of the Midwest Combine in Feb. 2014 and thinking, "there's a lot of similarities here." Both low center of gravity RBs, good quickness and change of direction. Pettaway was considered for four-stars when the first 2017 rankings came out last summer, but we want to see him take his game to that next level. Wouldn't surprise me if he did that this fall.
Adam Hensley we have not seen in-person, but really liked his film when I turned it on for the first time. Good range and athleticism for the LB position. Film tells a lot of the story, but not the whole story and very anxious to see Hensley in-person to get a few additional questions answered, like just how explosive is he, how advanced are his movement skills and how does his frame lend itself to future physical growth potential. Another guy who could make a jump if a few of those questions get answered positively as we see him more.
