Butler is far from their basketball team In baseball. They personify what Big East baseball has always been, a bunch of also rans fighting for the auto bid. St. John's used to be a decent program but their schedule isn't much to shake a stick at. Creighton is the only other one I even consider to be remotely respectable. Butler will likely be at or near the bottom of the Big East so it is necessary of us to not lose a game to them. We have lucked up and not lost a, what I will call "unforgivable" game. Butler would count as such if we lose to them. I'm doing this from my phone so here's a few notes:

Butler Bulldogs
8-18
RPI: 253
Best win: Illinois State (127)
Bad losses: pretty much all but being swept vs. St. John's.

I expected the Maryland loss today because we rarely win there and they appear to be a potential Super Regional team. At this juncture of the season, I would be shocked if we make the tourney given the remaining games on our schedule. Our RPI remains top 50, but remember we didn't get in with a mid-30s RPI last year. That doesn't kill my enthusiasm for this season. We have such a young core of players that we can sneak up on a lot of teams and make them sweat. That will pay dividends next season and 2017. I expect a regional appearance by 2017 for this club. We are going to be a scary good program the next few years. Take the lumps this year and watch it pay off.

It all starts this weekend when the new ballpark finally is christened with hopefully some big WVU wins. Get out there this weekend because rain or shine, this has been worth the wait.
