Is this the best WVU team of all time? No.

Is it damn good? I would say 8-1 is a pretty good record.

Has our schedule been pedestrian? Of course. But it's not chalk full of the unbalanced schedules of powder puffs in the Big 10 and ACC.

Some of you guys act like we schedule like Baylor OOC.

And you guys that want to write us off because we couldn't compete with the top 4 playoff teams... There is Alabama, and then the others.

Pitt just beat #2 at their house. Is Pitt now better than WVU?

Michigan fell to a 6-4 Iowa. Is Iowa that superior to WVU?

Washington's big win was over new Power 5 program Utah. Now they just lost to USC - ranked below WVU - but that was just a mistake too, right?

Face it - we don't need to rationalize how far off WVU is from competing with good teams. Let's just defer to all the talking heads and sit here and piss all over ourselves in doubt.

I hereby call all you that don't think WVU can compete at that level - the Seahorns!

I'll go on record as saying I think we win the last 3 games as long as we can get 30 healthy runs out of what remains of our running backs against OK.

As long as we are a threat to run, Skyler can be what he's good at.....a second option on offense. He just isn't that guy that can put a team on his back and carry them to victory. When he's forced to be that guy then he throws INTs and we lose.

I also said in another thread that no one looks like Alabama this year. That being said, I believe we were a 28 point dog in 2014 to them and we could/should have won that game.

I'd rather make the playoffs and get beaten badly than not going at all. When I was single and I saw ladies at the bar....I never went for the one "I would have the best chance at." That attitude is for pvssies. You're in it to win it. Someone will take that girl home....why can't it be you?

Seems like the complete opposite to me.

The majority of the board endlessly whines about how disrespected our team is being treated...thus that they think we're even better than our top 10 ranking.

Sorry for not being long-winded and going straight to my point.

Literally every time in both sports the fanbase gets carried away with expectations we suffer a WTF loss. Im liking the more humble approach from the fanbase and hope it rubs off on the team.

Seahorn doesn't want us to be good because it'd prove him and his negativity wrong. Those who don't believe have the past to base their skepticism on. I don't consider those to be one in the same.

Sportswriters don't really know if WV (or any of the other teams) is good or not. WV fans don't know either. Let the season play out..........................and then judge the team. Any team can win or lose on a given day.

Wilbon and Kornheiser just disrespected WVU and the Big 12.....by saying "we can't go down to West Virginia...just not going there" when discussing who should be in the top 4-6 teams in playoff picture. Then Tony said "as long as we don't see a Big 12 team in it".......and then they began talking about how the committee "has already made their minds up on who they want and have bias against certain conferences, like the PAC 12".....

F**K WHAT? Isn't the thing they just claimed the committee is doing.....exactly what they just did to the Big 12 and WVU?????

You may get to YOUR point more quickly, but your smug generalizations miss the mark a little.

Those who contend we are under-ranked are pointing to the disparity between those Top 10 polls and the College Football Playoff Poll.

I was only trying to point out that any team can win one game (save for beating Alabama, perhaps) and that we shouldn't join what is the national pastime of disrespecting ourselves - and the Big 12.

I don't EXPECT to win out. But if we do, our fan base shouldn't be the ones screaming, "We're not worthy!"

So you agree (with them..whiners)... ...we're not getting respect ?

Yet, you act like the majority of our fans on this forum don't respect what our team has accomplished...which is ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY untrue.

Can't have it both ways Champ.

First of all, I don't consider my fellow Mountaineers, whiners. And YOU keep referring to majority, not I.

I have come to the conclusion that the Playoff Poll is flawed - and should be in line with the two major media polls.

Again, I was pointing out that SOME don't think we can compete with playoff-level teams, which I was attempting to argue - in my verbose manner.

I like the combative and witty style you embrace but sometimes you are stirring, champ.

My, my, my .... did some of us touch the thermostat or what?

I am very sorry that the opinion some of us hold offends you so. I will be happy to be proven wrong.

As to whether or not Pitt is better than us .... they did beat Penn State and Clemson. They very well might be able to line up and whoop us.

But concerning Alabama + 3 I can say that I see your point and it does make a lot of sense. As much as I love the Mountaineers, however, I simply do not believe that we are one of the Top 4 teams in the country. If we are ..... then college football as a whole is down this year.

Now .... if we go out with a blaze of glory over these next three games ......

I don't know how we'll finish. I've been a lifelong Mountaineer fan so I've see the collapses.

I just believe many are over valuing other programs and under appreciating what we've accomplished.

Perhaps I was a little too wound up... been up since 3:30.

Perhaps I was a little too wound up... been up since 3:30.

I wake up too early each day so maybe that explains a few things... ...but I enjoy 'wound up' posting. ...both reading and writing.

Posting without emotion makes it easy to hide hidden truths/thoughts. That makes for bland posts that are usually repeated endlessly by the masses 'wanting to fit in' instead of being sincere and original. Sometimes maybe...I even get under the skin of people I happen to agree with 'just because'...

What you have here are many that don't want the Mountaineers to be successful-grasping at and even creating negativity at every opportunity. They simply HOPE for WVU to fail at everything.

Are they fans of other schools and conferences? Working for schools recruiting against WVU?

Who knows.

Mountaineer fans they are not. Mountaineer FANS believe in their program and are ecstatic about the success the coaches and team are having this season. Its a shame the negative nellies are allowed to try and bring down the excitement and success.

Mountaineer fans will continue to enjoy it and root for the players and coaches to have a great season. Doesn't get any bigger or better than this upcoming weekend. LET's GOOOOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!!!!!

Over the years, every time I hear just about all our fans think we have a sure win, the players apparently think the same thing and play poorly.

Where do any of our fans think we have a sure win? Having faith and acknowledging our own teams accomplishments is all I'm seeing.

The solution to this woefully inadequate system is simple:

1) Expand playoff to 6 teams.
2) Winners of 5 power conference championship games qualify, plus a wild-card selected by committee. This means that eleven schools essentially get a shot in the tournament.
3) Influence of committee dramatically reduced to selecting one wild card team and seeding final 6 teams.

This season is tracking to be a colossal screw up. Two conferences likely won't be represented in the tournament. Committee is way too powerful.

I dont understand the importance of conference championships for playoff talk in the current regular season setup with conference championship games and unbalanced scheduling. If you make conference championships an autobid, then a few years ago a 6-6 UCLA team played for the PAC title, if they would have won they immiediately get to say goodbye to 6 losses and join the playoff while a team like Ohio State whose only fault was screwing up a FG on the road against a really good PSU team has to go to the Wildcard bubble? So if you expand the playoff or make it so you have to win the conference to qualify, then it has to also come at the expense of the conference championship games, which wont happen since conference championship games are what fueled expansion to begin with, and there is no way these leagues let that happen.

The Big XII is the only league with the correct setup if you want to give autobids to conference champions in a playoff selection discussion.

Hence my migraine at the fact the conference "had" to have a CCG to be like the rest.

I agree that the idea of a CCG is stupid especially with a true college football postseason now being in play (Alabama will likely play 15 games this year, insane and probably unsafe), but it doesnt change the fact that unless the powers that be change their thinking to what you and me agree on, that not having a Big XII CCG costs the Big XII big time with the committee, and with its national perception.

Do not mistake reserved as a non-believer. I think WVU is a great team this year. Especially when comparing the last few seasons.

I just don't think we are a top program...yet. Prove me wrong and destroy Okie...I will gladly eat crow. Gladly.
