I've been asked on television a lot about whether Bill Clinton will be a help or hindrance to his wife's potential run for president. Will Bill Clinton be an albatross around Hillary Clinton's neck? My answer: absolutely not.
Why all this talk when Hillary Clinton still has not confirmed a run for 2016? And why all this talk of the affair former President Clinton had with Monica Lewinsky? As a woman, the question reeks of sexism. Although her husband was president for two terms, and governor for two terms in Arkansas, Hillary has been much more than a first lady. We do not need to talk about what Bill Clinton did; we can look at what Hillary has done.
Although her major initiative, the Clinton health care plan failed, it certainly set the groundwork for the health care law we have today, the Affordable Care Act. And she played a leading role in advocating the creation of the State Children's Health Insurance Program, which provides state support for children whose parents cannot provide them with health coverage. She promoted nationwide immunization against childhood illnesses. She also played a leading role in creation of the Adoption and Safe Families Act and the Foster Care Independence Act. She encouraged older women to seek a mammogram for early detection of breast cancer (which is covered by Medicare) and successfully sought to increase research funding for prostate cancer and childhood asthma at the NIH. She worked to investigate illnesses that were reportedly affecting Veterans of the Gulf War; now commonly known as Gulf War Syndrome. And she created an Office on Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice. She is also the first first lady to hold a post graduate degree, and she traveled to more countries than any other first lady had at that time.
As a U.S. senator, she was the first first lady to be elected to this office. She was instrumental in securing $21 billion in funding for the World Trade Center site's redevelopment. She subsequently took a leading role in investigating the health issues that 9/11 first responders were facing.
After visiting soldiers in Iraq, Clinton noted that the insurgency had failed to disrupt the democratic elections held earlier, and that parts of the country were functioning well. Noting that war deployments were draining regular and reserve forces, she cointroduced legislation to increase the size of the regular Army by 80,000 soldiers to ease the strain and supported retaining and improving health benefits for veterans. She also she introduced the Family Entertainment Protection Act.
That was just in her first term. She was easily re-elected and accomplished much in her second term as well. And who can forget her run for the presidency, receiving more than 17 million votes during the nomination process?
As our secretary of state, Clinton visited 112 countries, helping to repair a badly damaged U.S. reputation. She advocated an expanded role in global economic issues for the State Department and cited the need for an increased U.S. diplomatic presence, especially in Iraq, where the Defense Department had conducted diplomatic missions. Clinton unveiled the Global Hunger and Food Security program, prevailed over Vice President Biden to send an additional 21,000 troops to Afghanistan, saved the signing of a Turkish-Armenian accord, and assisted the president with major decisions as to the U.S. position with regard to the revolution in Egypt and the decision to use military force in Libya.
Hillary doesn't need the merits of her husband; nor does she need to be attacked for standing by her man after his affair. That is her private and personal decision. And the fact that we are still focused more on Bill than Hil speaks volumes to why the United States still has not had a female president.
But I tell you America, that time is coming ... brace yourselves.

Electing because she has a gash. That's it folks

Look at where voting for something unprecedented & different has gotten us.

Can we just vote a cyborg in instead?

There's never been a cyborg President before.

There's also never been an equine President before.

What about one of those?

Let's just vote for something because it's "different".

She travelled a lot as Sec State and ran up HUGE bar tabs

but if you think she repaired damage in that job you are really kidding yourself. The last 6 years have been a disaster regarding the middle east. Anyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

Bill Clinton's loving wife

by Dick Morris, former political adviser to President Bill Clinton

If you happen to see the Bill Clinton 5-minute TV ad for Hillary in which he introduces the commercial by saying he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary's background, beware. As I was there for most of their presidency and know them better than just about anyone, I offer a few corrections.

Bill says: "In law school, Hillary worked on legal services for the poor."

The facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says: "Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids."

The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says: "Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers."

The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam; yes, flunked. It is a matter of record, and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas - none - and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She did not join the prestigious Rose Law Firm until Bill became Arkansas Attorney General and was made a partner only after he was elected Arkansas Governor.

Bill says: "President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman."

The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary then became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

Bill says: "She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital."

The facts are: Yes, she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Walmart board of directors for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says: "Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994, but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance."

The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I know; I helped negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says: "Hillary was the face of America all over the world."

The facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: "Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues."

The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation. One set up a national park in Puerto Rico . A second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 9/11 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation. Presently she is trying to have the US memorialize the Woodstock fiasco of 40 years ago.

Bottom line: She goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned.

Think about it - Dick Morris has said all of this openly, thus if he were not truthful he'd be liable for defamation of character! And you better believe Hillary would sue him.

We've never had a Collie for President either. I like Collies.

Its basically promotional article in attempt to provide substance towards a career where there is very little. Throwing out the sexism card was a nice touch. Basically already setting up the "if you criticize her lack of accomplishments then you're sexist".

I really have to ask, do we want a LEADER who plays the victim? The leader of the worlds strongest nation, a victim. The questions about sticking with Bill after the affair are not sexist IMO. They are legitimate queries as to the motivations. I understand what happens in a marriage is private or it should be. However, it all came to light and you can't put the horse back in the barn. I have a couple of questions:

1. Why would she stay with her husband who very publicly had an affair? My thoughts are that its strictly for the political clout that comes with Bill. Detach him from her and there is even less substance to an otherwise empty resume.

2. As the leader of the free world, if she is not strong enough to stand on her own merits without Bill, how/why does she feel she is qualified to lead our nation?

3. What has she done to qualify her up for leading the country? What leadership role has she held in any capacity?

No kids would get stuck in wells anymore

But we wouldn't really be able to understand what they were saying, other than to assume they want us to follow them as they run someplace.

Of course, 90+% of politician statements are lies anyway, so not understanding it wouldn't be a loss

Bingo. Bill was a known horndog from way back. She might truly love him -- it's hard for me to see that a White-bread girl from Yale via Wellesley would move to Arkansas in the early 70s for any other reason -- but I've always felt that there's been as much political advantage as romance in that partnership, and she knew damn well that a divorced woman wouldn't get two minutes of thought as a presidential candidate.

Totally agree. That's essentially another lie as far as I am concerned and another reason why I don't feel she is fit for command.

No one commented on the Dick Morris article and he is going to be there hounding her ever step of the way. Really sounds more demining that Harry's rant on paying no taxes for 10 years.

She really pissed off Dick, and he was an insider with straight scoop. Hard to believe he would be ass hurt over something that happened 25 years ago, but he cannot turn it loose. If his words are incorrect, she needs to take legal action to shut him up. A hit-man has to be a close second choice.
