referees.... I was fortunate that our HS association had a former ACC referee as our head training official. When I started officiating he was director of basketball officials for the CAA conference. He always said "know who the best players are. The fans pay to see the best players on the court and you don't call ticky tack stuff on the best players." As you pointed out, the first call on Devin was made Tuesday. Everyone in that building knew the last thing WVU could afford was Williams in foul trouble. IMO the 2nd foul was correct and maybe even frustration caused by the first call???? The first was chicken crap. You are correct, if you want to set the tone, don't call a foul on Williams.
Young guards. You said when Staten and Browne were injured that WVU could become a better team. Man you nailed that one. In fact before Carter began to slump shooting the ball, you could argue that our offensive ball movement was better without Staten running the point. (That isn't a criticism of Staten). Dax, Carter, Philip all played very well at times over the last month. Good call
