Nah he's right, we blew about 3-4 sure fire TDs. They only fumbled 1. Translation 73-14 for the good guys.

Anyway they look at, they got their ass handed to them. If not for the 2nd string D taking a play/series off they'd have got shut out.

Michigan will probably just flat destroy them next week. WVU was physical with them and Michigan gets a wounded piece of meat.

There was no question that SOMEONE had to make this post; of course, I thought it would happen on Sunday morning and not Saturday night

Anyway, I myself initially thought it WAS a bit of a shot from a coach who was simply caught watching some other game between 300 and 600pm yesterday. Upon further review, I finally realized Edsall probably just felt he needed to say SOMETHING publicly to support a team that positively got taken to the woodshed; on the scoreboard, if not in the manhood department.

The fact he could do it at the expense of an opponent for he doesn't seem to have much public respect......he's claimed in the past it's because he doesn't care for our offensive style, while I myself think it's more because he resents our coming into "his" state and taking so many good ballplayers.....makes it somewhat easier for him to attempt to justify a blowout loss before a fan base I dont think is all THAT charged with him to begin with.

At the end of the day, these are two Programs......and coaching staffs......who really DON'T like one another very much, and both are clearly prepared to take any opportunity to run over the other when possible; and will then back up the truck and run over the dead carcass again given a chance.

Said another way, if Holgs and Edsall don't like one another, that's perfectly all right with me; and beyond that, I'd be VERY surprised if both were on their respective sidelines the next time the teams play one another.

Edsel (remember the dadgum Edsel?) and Holgs didn't seem to be buddies after the game yesterday. They hardly made eye contact after the game.

Edsall is really what I dislike most about Maryland. He is gonna weasel out of this series cause 1) he can't coach worth $#!+ and 2) he wants the weakest ooc he can get to survive as long as he can..

IMO the border rival is the best rivalry WVU has had in my lifetime or adult lifetime in terms of passion, fan support, and just good games. The games are just fun. It is 2 State schools.and you got good history. No matter where the game is, it's a good atmosphere.

We made them look worse than Georgia Southern and Liberty. We destroyed them in every facet of the game. We pumped the brakes at halftime or we could have dropped a legit 70 on them.

The Mountaineers are lightyears better then Maryland. I find the Zeller statement comical. Granted the 'EERs are not a top 10 team (yet) they are a helluva lot better then the Terps.

I have no clue as to how the Maryland football fan base (such as it is) feels about Edsall and his extension. But you know how lots of folks around here were feeling about Holgs the day after our 37-0 loss a few years ago, and I seriously doubt Terp fans feel any better today.

Even though I made the original post I'll go ahead and give Zeller a little benefit of the doubt.

The only thing I can think of that might have caused Zeller to say something like that could be possibility that he believes there really wasn't that much difference athletically between most of the MD and WVU players. And he very well may be right. MD really does have a lot of good quality D1 players.

But the difference between the "teams" is night and day. And that difference is the result of well coached players who are improving and playing closer to their capabilities. Leadership is huge too. We have a quarterback who is talented, generally plays smart, and is a leader. MD can't figure out who their quarterback is. And we are stacked with good players who are leaders on defense.

When it comes to raw skill there might not be much difference between the two teams. But when it comes to playing a football game we know which team is significantly better.

The jury is still out on Edsel. Ford quit on him and Maryland will too..............ultimately. On the other hand, I knew Holgs would be alright................once he turned on to The Bull..................the 'bad hair' and dem pickles that TorontoEERs and I send him!

One place we were definitely better was QB. After that the separation isn't as big. But when your QB turns it over four times it doesn't much matter how good the rest of the team is.
