Outside of one quarter against KSU last year, Howard has at best played average in any other quarter against a decent team. The bowl game Howard appears to be the norm unless the opposition is a losing team. The undisciplined play and complete collapse with adversity is still a problem for this team. However, having to continually use JUCO transfers for key positions on offense does reflect a disturbing trend in coaching staff...

Unfortunately, WVU is not like the big name programs. Our coaching staff needs to either be great recruiters to either bring in talent despite the disadvantages WVU campus faces compared to Miami, Alabama, USC, Texas, etc... or to scout out overlooked players that can be turned into great players (i.e. Tavon Austin). The other options is the coaching staff needs to be like Snyder, able to do more with less by great coaching and game planning. No matter what skill Dana has a head coach, I feel that he is unlikely the answer if WVU wants to compete for a Big XII title.

The game is not over and nor is the season, but it just seems the evidence in almost 4.5 seasons is not reassuring that WVU is moving toward competing for a Big XII title anytime soon.
