The last 2016 contract thread

For all our fans who blast Bob Stoops........ok, like to hear them talk about our preparation tonight.....

Well obviously we prepared for our RB to break his collarbone, a punt to bounce off an ankle forcing our return man to have to field it off the bounce, 2 fumbles at the 5, and a bad QB decision for a pick 6

You cannot point a finger at the coaching or the prep for last night. Our walk on LB, Arndt, missed multiple wrap ups leading to TDs..... our offense couldn't hold onto the ball. Our D Line was more interested in collecting yellow flags than actually stopping anyone

Dana can't do it himself. He kept his composure and coached us in a manner that, without t the TOs inside the 10, we'd have come right back in the game.

Look at Dana's play call on 4th down when Howard threw the pick 6. Wellman in the flat was wide open for the 1st down...... good coaching, terrible QB decision making

We disagree on dana. You girls make it personal as part of message board phenomena. :)

I'm super excited for the next two years of basketball. That ought to count for something. Can't we all get along?

You only show up right on que and while I usually just ignore your antics, you don't ask "can't we all get along?" when you are the one antagonizing.

Just my 2 cents. I think this speaks more to just how bad the Big XII is than how bad WVU is. I think WVU is exactly where they were last season. The rest of the Big XII is simply down. Oklahoma gets smacked around by Ohio State and Houston because when compared to the really good teams they just don't stack up. And when we face teams who are average or better we get smacked around as well. Just so happens there are a bunch of below average teams in the Big XII this season. And we are benefitting from that.
As for the contract, Shane Lyons has to decide if being a consistently average team in this conference is enough. Is it worth waiting for nine other teams to all have bad years at the same time to be in the conversation for the playoff? And if it is not who is out there that would come here that can improve on our play? I don't envy his position. I'd much rather be in mine where I sit at home disenfranchised and indifferent with our current state of affairs. DVR has made football season watchable. If they win I watch it and if they loose I don't. Thank goodness I got to watch more than 5-6 games this year. I enjoyed that. But I still don't have any illusions that we actually improved. I think we held serve while most of the league took a step back. Which may be a sign of things looking up because of the injuries to our defense only having onlya serviceable QB under center. Then again we may end up a 6-6 team when the rest of the conference isn't all down at the same time next season. Either way I'll be back again to watch and hope for the best.

Look, if WVU wins, it's to Dana's credit. If they lose, it's his fault. The buck stops there. Ask Charlie Strong. Or Nick Saban.

You can't have it both ways. I was tickled with the 8 victories, and said so. I am dismayed by the 2 losses, and said so.

That seems fair to me. Hell, I sat through that crappy weather so I'm hardly a "fair weather fan."

Beat Iowa State and Baylor and that's 10-2. Best season since Dana's first season when WVU still was in the Big East and blew away Clemson in the bowl.

And a helluva lot better at 7-2 than the 4-season average of 4-5 in the Big 12 under Dana. That's progress, by any standard.

But it doesn't remove the sour taste of the inept, pitiful performance to a 35-0 deficit.

You have to see the good and the ugly. WVU has provided us with both this season.

Keaton and I have knocked heads over the years. But he is spot on about Dana in this game. He mostly kept his composure in the first half. And he certainly had it at half-time when he got his team to regroup. And if we didn't have all of those crazy things happen in the first quarter .... we are in this game in the 4th quarter if not winning it.
