I can’t say emphatically enough what a welcome change it is to have an innovative leader paving the way for the conference WVU is in. Obviously we’ve had a few complacent commissioners who were more reactionary than proactive. We are, however, indebted to Chuck Neinas and he was what the conference needed at the time.
I read several individuals ask what has Yormark really done? Yes, he went to market early to get the media deal but what else?
He’s obviously who the conference needs and he leaves no stone unturned to maximize universities’ revenue. The relationships he’s built and the business savvy he’s displayed has been extremely impressive. At this time of uncertainty for so many schools, it’s great to feel confident going forward in the Big 12. He knew the networks had a finite amount of money to spend for sports content moving forward and by signing first, he locked the Pac 12 out of the possibility of getting a lucrative and competitive TV deal.
