I know, it’s early, and Youngstown’s schedule doesn’t compare to BYU’s.

Thanks for supplementing my stats with those records. If WVU and Baylor can get to Dec. 3 without losing, it will be a play-in game for the Football Final Four because NO unbeaten Power 5 team is ever going to left out of the national playoffs. There are usually only 1 or 2 unbeaten teams anyway in the Power 5, so all the unbeaten champs should get into the playoffs. I seriously doubt there will ever be 5 unbeaten Power 5 conference champs. Too tough to go without losing in today's college world. Even Alabama has trouble doing it, and the Tide has won 4 out of 7, I believe.

Ohio State and Michigan one of those finish 13-0 and will be playoff bound
Alabama unbeaten and in.
Don't really see Clemson or Washington losing.

Alabama
Ohio State
Clemson
Washington

The top 6 teams are unbeaten. It will be really hard for WVU or Baylor to get in even if there are just 2 unbeaten teams

Not complete cupcakes, but not exactly a great record since its not stiff competition. With the remaining slate of games I'd say a the most optimistic record for the remaining slate of games would be 6-2. Could do better, but based upon results so far I'd be very surprised. Less than 4-4 would be disappointing, but definitely possible as well

I stand by my statement. NO unbeaten Power 5 conference champ will be left out of the Football Final Four. And history tells us that there will be only TWO, at the most, unbeaten Power 5 teams. So if WVU or Baylor is one of the unbeaten teams, then it WILL be in the Football Final Four.

Even during the BCS, there was only ONE year when there were THREE unbeaten teams. It just doesn't happen. The season is only halfway over, and we're down to NINE teams, and SEVEN have to play 1 of the other 8 unbeaten teams. They will fall like dominoes, as they have every season.

Go undefeated, WVU, and you're in the Football Final Four. I guarantee it.

That's EXACTLY the point I was trying to make. Thanks for looking up the stats that I was too lazy to make. By the way, isn't it way past time for Bob Hertzel's sweatpants to go into the clotheswasher? :sunglasses:

NO unbeaten Power 5 team is ever going to left out of the national playoffs.

Safe statement as in the two years of the playoff only two unbeaten teams have ever participated: 2014 - FSU & 2015 - Clemson; both from the ACC. Most of the teams have one loss and then they are evaluated on SOS primarily. That's how the Big 12 got left out in 2014.

Also, no two loss team has participated in the Playoff. This year it is highly likely that the Big 12 Champ may have two losses; regardless of who it is, there's a lot of conference games yet to play.
