I'm doing my usual oven cooked tomorrow but I was able to pick up another turkey for next to nothing and thought about dropping it in a roaster oven. I remember a few times I've had them cooked that way but it was many years ago. They definitely don't brown as well that way and I could finish it off in the oven but I have several other things tying it up.

Any thoughts, suggestions on going this route?

if electric model, I recommend a few things- line bottom with thin sliced potatoes to avoid burning bottom of turkey, coupled with that add 1 1/2 cups of water. Lastly, find a way to seal lid to keep all that water/steam inside. Spices tend to absorb the moisture so you need to counter that.

Good stuff, thanks TN!
