Let's compare the similarities.

Texas - Relives past glories to ease the pain of sports mediocrity

Pitt - Relives past glories to ease the pain of complete sports failure.

Texas - Has over inflated sense of relevance.

Pitt - has over inflated sense of relevance.

Texas - Weak and below average basketball team.

Pitt - Weak and below average basketball team.

But Texas is not a total train wreck in collegiate sports. They have bundles of cash. Unfortunately Pitt is the broke brother inlaw who has big plans but never manages to succeed.

Pittsburgh is a cool place. Decent city. Great football town for the NFL.
Don't know who hurt Pitt more the Steelers or Penn State.
Even with the Cowboys, Texas has stayed the alpha of CFB in terms of fans, revenue and recruits.

West Virginia is more Tech's rivalry anyway.

You have to start at the bottom in Texas and work your way up.....

Tech
Baylor
TCU
Then the Burnt Orange Satan

Certainly not in wins.

Texas A&M passed them years ago in relevance.

Not in Texas where it matters

This effort to establish a University was again mandated by Article 7, Section 10 of the Texas Constitution of 1876 which directed the legislature to "establish, organize and provide for the maintenance, support and direction of a university of the first class, to be located by a vote of the people of this State, and styled "The University of Texas."[21]

10 reasons Texas is better than Texas A&M: Bevo > Reveille, championships, and more
This Story is About

Texas and Texas A&M haven't met on the football field since the Aggies departed for the SEC. But the schools have met in other sports. And if both teams win their first-round games in the NCAA tournament, they will meet Sunday with a berth in the Sweet Sixteen on the line.

1. The Longhorns own the Aggies. Sure, Texas A&M has had a little more success than Texas in football since joining the SEC in 2012. But the Longhorns hold a dominating all-time series edge over the Aggies in the three major sports. Texas’ overall football record against Texas A&M is 76-37-5. And the Longhorns have bragging rights for years to come with a 27-25 win in the last meeting in 2011. Texas basketball holds a 137-85 record over the Aggies, though A&M won a regular-season meeting between the two in November, 2015. The Longhorns baseball team lost to Texas A&M, 5-4, in walk-off fashion on Tuesday, but it only made a dent in Texas’ 242-125-5 overall record against the Aggies.

L
2. Texas has actually won national championships since World War II. Texas A&M's last football championship came in 1939. The Longhorns have won four national championships in football since 1963, with their last coming in the 2005-2006 season. Additionally, Texas has won six baseball national championships, while the Aggies have never won one.

3. The Longhorns have had bowl success.Sure, Texas missed a bowl game for the second time in six years, but it’s had plenty of historical success. The Longhorns have made 53 bowl appearances and have a 27-24-2 record. What’s Texas A&M’s bowl record? It’s 17-20.

4. Texas beat the Aggies in the Directors’ Cup. The Longhorns have had more success in the NACDA Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, which is given to colleges and universities with the most success in collegiate athletics. Texas has only finished behind the Aggies once since 2008-2009. The Longhorns have been higher in the standings every year since then and are currently ahead of Texas A&M this year.

5. #LetsRide > #Yessir. Texas’ #LetsRide is just better than #Yessir. ‘Yessir’ sounds like Texas A&M is being polite. ‘LetsRide’ at least sounds like Texas is excited about something. Plus there were a lot more #LetsRide uses on national signing day than uses of #Yessir.

6. Bevo > Reveille. Texas’ mascot Bevo is a Longhorn steer that weighs 2,000 pounds and is the largest live mascot in college athletics. Texas A&M’s Reveille is a dog. Sure, it’s the leader of the Aggies’ Corps of Cadets. But at least Bevo can protect himself and doesn’t need to be guarded. Texas is currently without its mascot Bevo as Bevo XIV died in October, but his replacement is expected to be revealed soon.

7. Texas is better academically. The University of Texas at Austin is a much better academic institution than Texas A&M University. UT is ranked No. 52 in U.S. News’ National University rankings, while A&M is No. 70. Texas is ranked No. 37 according to the Academic Rankings of World Universities, while Texas A&M is No. 100. Texas is also much harder to get into as only 39.7 percent of applicants get into UT. A&M, however, admits 71 percent of applicants.

8. Austin is a better city. UT is in a much better city than Texas A&M. No offense to College Station, but it doesn’t even compare to the capital city. Traffic is bad in Austin, but the pros outweigh that con. Austin has great food, a lively atmosphere and hosts two major events: Austin City Limits music festival and South By Southwest. College Station can’t touch Austin.

9. The food is better in Austin. The food is fantastic in Austin. It has breakfast tacos, barbecue and really anything you could want. While Austin didn’t win the breakfast taco war against San Antonio, the taco options are bountiful. There are also plenty of barbecue options in Austin, including Franklin’s Barbecue, a place where people are willing to wait hours to eat. What does College Station even have?

10. Cool people went to UT. Finally, a lot of cool people went to UT: Matthew McConaughey, Michael Dell, Laura Bush, Lady Bird Johnson, Joe Jamail, Tom C. Clark, Roger Clemens, Kevin Durant, Ricky Williams, Vince Young, and the list goes on. The Aggies have three interesting people: 1. Rick Perry, 2. Johnny Manziel and 3. Oops, forgot the last one.

Big difference
If Texas used Pitt's parameters for NC they would have 9
If PItt used Texas' parameters for NC they would have 2

Texas' parameters are AP or Coaches NC

Pitt's parameters are any poll or a Sports Illustrated's article from 1970 that were funded by Pitt because Penn St has 1968 and 1969 unclaimed NC
If Texas wanted to buy NC and used Pitt's parameters they could actually claim 14 by Pitt's standards.

Even Pitts memories of ancient sports history is as delusional as their football fan(s) belief that ACC is better with them then without.

Texas should be like a Alabama with all the damn money funneled into that football program. Longhorn basketball is a joke it's a afterthought, it could be more, but while Texas football is King. The basketball program is the peasant toiling in a barren field.

Texas' biggest issue has been that Texas can win and win Big with average coaching.
I can list 5 coaches who have coached at Texas and won 9-10 games but they couldn't coach anywhere else. Mack Brown was the lone exception but Mack Brown at N Carolina was not that impressive when you consider how horrible the ACC was in the 90's.
Mack Brown was a slightly above average coach who won a NC.

With that being said people believe that Herman is a great coach. In terms of recruiting and terms of on the field coaching.'
Herman won Ohio St their most recent NC more than anyone else.

If Texas and Oklahoma find success the next ten years this will create more revenue in the Big XII.
With each school having third tier rights they can maximize the value of these rights on the open market.
The SEC and B1G cannot. The SEC is collective and Alabama is Joseph Stalin. They steal recruits and revenue from the bigger states like Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Texas. As the head of the SEC Bama is the one who dictates the rules.

If Texas and Oklahoma win Bama might have to turn the SEC more like the Big XII to keep up in revenue.

The fact that coming up in Texas in 2019, 2020 and 2021 are some of the best recruiting classes in the history of the sport.
There is so much talent in State.
If you add in Louisiana and Missouri the Big XII is sitting on a nest egg of talent coming up.
OU and UT are dominated recruiting in Missouri.

This is where West Virginia comes in.
Does West Virginia want to be like Iowa St......
or does West Virginia want to be like Texas, Oklahoma and TCU.

West Virginia can be dominating recruiting in OH, PA, VA, MD and D.C.....

Bringing in Top 15 classes.

If this could happen the Big XII will be the conference that everyone looks at especially if Bama destroys the SEC by keeping more of the revenue.

This will cause the SEC West schools with Texas ties to come back into Texas and maybe allow the Big XII to get into Florida.

Not in Texas where it matters

Texas is so popular their fans (you actually) need to brag about people wearing their T-shirt’s 200 miles south of the border....as if many of those people wouldn’t wear anything that’s free.

Hint: Nobody reads extremely long posts...even Texas fans reading a Longhorn propaganda ‘article’.

The Big XII vs the SEC is......

Truthfully the US vs the Soviet Union

Free market ideas vs collectivism

It was a Texas ex James Baker under President Reagan along with the thousands of Texas ex's who work at the State Department who caused the fall of the Soviet Union...

Same reason. An arms race has started between Texas, Oklahoma and TCU vs the SEC.

Problem is the SEC is stuck on revenue unless the SEC expands or if the SEC starts acting more like the Big XII.
Texas and Oklahoma can maximize their revenue a lot more than Soviet Alabama.....

Untrue.....
Monterrey, Mexico is a 5 million person metro area that has an average GDP of 46,000 per household.
So if you think about it, it is a market twice the size of West Virginia with people making the same amount of money.

You have to think long term.
Texas is beginning to market their swimming and diving program in Australia as well as their football program because of Australia football players at UT and to market itself in additional places in Latin America.

I think the next place could be Argentina if they can figure out how to get people down there to watch CFB.
Argentina is a country similar to Texas as it was created from the beef industry.
Their purchasing power is equal to Monterrey, Mexico nation wide..

So you’re one of those people that think if you talk (write) more it somehow validates your opinion simply based on volume.

Good luck with that.....

LOL You UT guys are really funny.

UT is putting together an unbelievable class with lock down corners, future Pro Bowl safeties, run stopping DT's and now......speed of the edges.

Pretty much have a 6-2 240 former RB out of Baton Rouge that can run a 4.4 40 who will commit this week as well.
Should have been a LB in HS and he would have been considered Malik Jefferson....
But played RB and was not considered a 5 star prospect. With Todd Orlando and Oscar Giles eye for talent they have this kid eyed as a DE/LB.....

This is a perfect example of why social media is bad. It gives people like this a voice.

All the ones with money are already living in Texas because Citgo's headquarters are in Houston. Problem is Chavez nationalized their oil.
Katyzuela is happening. When Marxism ends down there in might be an idea.

Seriously, your top 5 recruiting class just got clobbered by 35 points by WVU. Man you guys even make the Pitt trolls look good.

Why get upset?
Bob Huggins is a great coach and WVU basketball is turning into a powerhouse
Y'all should have pride in your program.

Thing is even in defeat Texas is still much better than West Virginia....

Upset? The village idiot makes people laugh not upset.

What if you are in a village full of idiots...
Well if I lived in Texas I might know about that. Worst beat down in 35 years and you double down on stupidity. Perhaps for you it is an honor to be the village idiot in a village of idiots. It sure seems that way.

Basketball is the third most important sport in this conference.
Great win for WVU but if you want to be somebody in this conference do something in CFB and Baseball.

Texas is greatest baseball school and one of the handful of blueblood football programs.

Funny thing is even in BB Texas has more Final 4's as you....and more career wins.

It was an expected win not a great win.

YOU ARE...YOUR AVATAR

Claiming baseball is more important than basketball would be like WVU saying rifle is more important than basketball.

WVU fans should be careful about sPitting on Texas. This is a very young team, with 3 freshmen starters, I believe. The Longhorns will be a major factor for 2018 and 2019 seasons. For now, they took an ass-whomping for a WVU team that also is young but has 2 great senior guards to keep the calm.

Basketball cuts into the recruiting season for football.

Recruiting season
Baseball

Those are the three major sports
