Is having either a very good offense or very good defense....but RARELY at the same time. Closest thing we had to a balanced team was 2014 before Trickett got permanently concussed.

If WVU still had Kwiatkoski, Worely, Joseph, Dillon, Rose ohhhh my lord. We would be total favorites to win the Big 12.

Defense looked awful against BYU and that doesn't bode well for conference play.

The defense looking bad does not bode well for Big 12 play but can you please tell me what Big 12 defense outside of maybe Kansas state has looked good?

There aren't too many defenses that would look good in three games having to replace the guys you mentioned. The offense is going to have to carry the load until and/or if the defense gels.

here is the crazy thing, we are starting 10 seniors on defense. We will be rebuilding on that side of the ball again next year.

I guess I should have said national title instead of Big 12. That is the real goal.

Baby steps. First, win the Big 12. Be undefeated. Then we can dream about winning the Football Final Four. After all, we haven't ever won a national title in football, although I think maybe (like Pitt), we should count the unbeaten 1922 team that won the East-West (later Rose) Bowl. That's about as close as we've come. I don't count the Notre Dame Fiesta game, because we lost. Doc Spears won the East-West Bowl.

Said this many times before. Besides KSU what teams in the Big 12 has a defense?

WVU having either a good offense year and bad defense one year but never at the same time. This can be said of WVU for every coach. Comes down to the state of WV not having national type high schools. Not being in hotbed recruiting area. You are going to get one or the other. I don't think this defense is as bad as many think. But the biggest 2 issues are no run defense and no sacks.

This offense should score on anybody.

We have a SENIOR QB the ONLY goal should be competing for a National Title. That defense scared me Wednesday,
