The eyewall replacement cycle has yet to complete, but the Hurricane Hunters just found flight-level winds in the northeastern eyewall at almost 145 knots (~166 mph). The pressure has gone back up to around 951 mb, but it could easily drop again once the new eyewall has formed completely. Winds are now reported to be 130 mph, but that makes it no less dangerous. Given the size of this beast, far inland is going to feel effects. The EURO overnight now projects the storm to pass WV to the south and west as it curves around the high pressure area currently steering the storm. That would keep the bulk of the bad weather away from the state. There is still time for this to change, and now the forecast has been shifted for landfall to occur on Friday and the storm to stall out in the Carolinas Saturday and Sunday.
