Still believe this is bowl team

After we have been in the Big12 for a few years now I just don't think we get enough talent to ever win the league. We are probably always a middle of the pack team

i dont know about that.

we had, far and away, the most talented offense in that geno/tavon year. we just had a regular guy coaching the defense and that killed us.

too much talent to F that up, regardless of the schedule

it's a pretty tall order to go into oklahoma and win but i thought we'd be more competitive than this. our talent level has increased and our depth has gotten a lot better...recruiting is better. my question is - what year are we looking forward to? is it next year? is it the year after that we finally start making some noise in the conference? when do we start to expect more from a results standpoint?

i think we're all at the point where we don't expect much. fans take each game by itself. and that's fine. that's most years of wvu's football history.

but the administration must expect attendance and revenue to drop.

I think without 8 wins this year, we should be looking for another coach.. which means we should really be looking now. I don't think we would get a top notch type guy in any case, but change is needed unless all a WVU coach needs to do to keep his job is win 7,4,7,and <7. If that's all that's needed then it is what it is, but I think we're better than that.. Im not saying we should require a conference championship, but an 8-9 win season in the B12 would be nice every few years, if not every other year. Our program is positioned to be in the top 4 in the B12 almost every year, not #5-6-7-8. For the record, I like Dana. I liked Stew as well. I liked the Dana hire and he's brought alot of excitement to the program. It just might be time we start looking. We might be 3-1, but unless we pull off the upset next week, it could be a very dismal year. Everyone is looking at the next 3 games as our killer schedule, but lets not forget KState and TTech surely have the means to beat us when we play like we did today.

And Geno choked the second half on the season away and got a big head.

we're not going to change coaches, no matter what.

i've talked to a huge number of fans. the clear consensus is dana is cool and the big 12 is tough. like it or not, we are who we are.

time for many, including myself, to adjust.

that's the typical take.

but the pressure of having to score 50 every game would break down any offense. is what it was. but revisionist history always wins - so carry on.

LOL! Very active today toilet paper. You think the 25 actual fans who still visit our idiot board will be fooled by you Schtick today. Same old same old.

you're nuts and it's a shame you're still allowed to post here. vernon is much too kind to you.

welcome to my ignore list.

Considering 2/3 of all teams go to a bowl these days, then yes we will...

Low information fans always want to fire the coach after every loss. Holgorsen has been fired at least 20 times on this board ( yawn ). If losing in Norman Oklahoma gets you fired then almost every head coach in the country would be in big trouble. We could lose the next three games and still finish 8-4 with a very nice bowl game. Some fans quit after every loss and will never adjust to being in a power conference.

put is this way....with how many teams that ends up going to bowls due to the 300 bowl games...If we fail to make a bowl game in December then there should be a for sale sign in front of Dana's house by March

Realistically there should have been one there last march.

I think we played a very good team, who had a really good game plan. We were competitive most of the game, I believe we tried to bias our defense to stop Perine and gambled wrong a few times. Hell'ya I think we have the potential to be a bowl team as long as our fans don't over react, our team and coaches will be fine.
Freshman tackle is going to be great, had a rough go a couple of times today.

Being a bowl team doesn't mean anything. 6 and 7 win teams are not to be celebrated, please don't post things like this as if this is the expectation. We want to compete for conference titles, not bowl games against SEC #8.

Only need 3 wins...lots of losers on the remaining schedule

Texas Tech, Texas, Kansas, Iowa State, and possibly OK State and K State
Ears in a bowl...don't sweat it !!!

5 years in and with the offense we run, one would think Dana would have an elite quarterback running the show. But nope.

You mean like the QBs that Urban Meyers has at Ohio State.

Cardale Jones was only a 3 star coming out of high school who stepped up at a critical stage of the season and led his team to winning a National Championship along with putting up impressive numbers. He'll likely lead his team to another National Championship this year or at the very least the Playoffs.

That's what puzzles me also.....the QB situation. It's hard for me to comprehend that none of the other qb's we have on scholarship could beat him out.....

Right on both counts, Hurdy. I really don't see 88's 5 losses...too many weak sisters and mediocre teams for 4 more losses.

Being a bowl team is setting the bar really low.
Hell, WVU is 3-1, so even a 3-5 finish means a bowl game again.
And Kansas and Iowa State are still left on the schedule. And Texas.

Stupid question. Stupid of me to even answer.

The fact that we are saying this team is still a bowl team is disturbing to me. Almost every team is a bowl team. That is a 6-6 season. Our HC has had enough time to make us much better than just a "bowl team." In my opinion, we are a QB away from being much better than that. Anyone who watched the bowl game last year knows we are still having the same problems at the QB position. Even an average QB wins that game.

Oklahoma is now ranked in the top 10 and is 94 - 8 at home since 1999. An average QB and/or average team almost never wins in Norman OK.

When there are SEVEN sacks in the game, not sure that's on the QB alone.
