WVU Release Stevenson receives Big 12 honors

West Virginia’s Erik Stevenson averaged 25 points in a pair of wins to collect both Big 12 Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week in the final awards of the season.

The senior guard had a game-high 27 points in the win over No. 11 K-State on Senior Day and finished with 23 points in the road win at Iowa State earlier in the week. Stevenson shot 48.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range. He hit nine 3-point field goals on the week. Stevenson has scored 23 or more points in five consecutive games heading into the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship.

It's good to have a guy that was Newcomer of the Week so often because that means he'll be helping us beat Big 12 opponents for years to come. Right?

But seriously, there are players somewhere else right now that we've never heard of, and then WVU is going to bring them in for 2023-24 and they'll be important for the 2023-24 season, and then they'll leave and we'll never hear from them again. It just doesn't feel right.
