I'm still here but will continue to update this throughout.
-Only uppers today and a lot of this is individual work. But they did do a tempo period at the starting with the two units.
-First team offense consisted of QB Skyler Howard, RB Rushel Shell, WR Ka'Raun White, WR Daikiel Shorts, WR Shelton Gibson, FB Elijah Wellman, LT Yodny Cajuste, LG Adam Pankey, C Tyler Orlosky, RG Tony Matteo and RT Colton McKivitz. Obviously the only changes there are that McKivitz supplanted Marcell Lazard for now as well as Matteo over Bosch. Although in a later pass protection drill the two were again flip flopped.
-First team defense consisted of DE Noble Nwachukwu, NG Darrien Howard, DE Christian Brown, WILL Sean Walters, MIKE Al-Rasheed Benton, SAM Justin Ardnt, SPUR Marvin Gross, BS Jeremy Tyler, FS Dravon Henry, CB Nana Kyeremeh and CB Antonio Crawford. The only difference there is that Crawford was running with the first team unit.
-Second team offense was: QB Chris Chugunov, RB William Crest, WR Ricky Rogers, WR David Sills, TE Michael Ferns, LT Rob Dowdy, LG Grant Lingafelter, C Amanii Brown RG Kyle Bosch and RT Marcell Lazard.
-The second team defense was DE Adam Shuler, NG Jaleel Fields, DE Xavier Pegues, WILL David Long, MIKE Hodari Christian, SAM Xavier Preston, SPUR Deamonte Lindsay, BS Shane Commodore, FS Khari Shariff, CB Rasul Douglas and CB Jordan Adams.
-Only a limited look at the tempo period but redshirt senior running back Rushel Shell looked sharp again. Ran hard and looked faster than he was last season. Shell busted off around a 25-yard run off tackle and capped the drive off with a short touchdown run busting it to the outside.
-Junior wide receiver Ka'Raun White is starting to develop into a big time threat for this offense. He had another long reception and is playing with as much confidence as I have seen him. He also was targeted on another long throw but the ball was overshot by Howard.
-Because there wasn't a lot of team drills it was hard to get a real gauge on the quarterbacks today but I thought Skyler Howard started slow but got a lot better as the day wore on. Chris Chugunov continues to throw a strong accurate ball but I'm not sure that's going to be enough considering Howard's understanding of the system as a whole.
-With freshman running back Kennedy McKoy at prom it was sophomore William Crest that got the call in the backfield. He took a couple carries and showed that wiggle that he has shown throughout spring.
-Sophomore wide receiver Gary Jennings was not wearing green today but was sporting a wrap on his hand. He did not participate in some of the drills.
-Observed the wide receivers for a while and they were getting instruction from not only new coach Tyron Carrier but also head coach Dana Holgorsen and running backs coach JaJuan Seider. Carrier is very enthusiastic and often would pull his players aside and demonstrate the drills for them throughout he session.
-A lot of individual position work today although the pass protection drill was fun to watch. The defense was able to make Yodny Cajuste false start which drew a reaction from the unit. The drill included all the players except for the wide receivers and cornerbacks and although it was only uppers there was definitely some popping. It was overseen by JaJuan Seider and both Ron Crook and Joe Wickline who both offered their input to the offense while Tony Gibson, Matt Caponi and Bruce Tall did the same with defense. "Set level," Wickline shouted at the unit multiple times in an authoritative voice. Both the offensive line coaches are very hands on and technicians.
-On the opposite side of the indoor, the wide receivers and defensive backs went at it in one on ones. Ka'Raun White and Antonio Crawford had a great battle down the sideline with the latter tipping it away at the end. Senior Devonte Mathis also got behind Jeremy Tyler for a big gain.
-Speaking of Antonio Crawford he displayed great coverage again for the most part throughout the duration of the drills. Stuck with his man and made plays when the ball was in the air.
-Both sophomores David Sills and William Crest continued to work at other spots on the field. Sills had a nice nice in the one on ones to get open against Rasul Douglas.
-Sills did get work at quarterback late in the practice and ran the ball on his first two plays. On the third the play was strung out and he attempted a pass that was picked off by Rasul Douglas and returned to the house.
-Former WVU QB Rasheed Marshall was in attendance today as well as 2018 Aliquippa (Pa.) safety Kwantel Raines.
-Freshman OL Jacob Buccigrossi was again in red as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Wide receiver DL Knock also was sporting red. Meanwhile redshirt senior safety Jarrod Harper was not dressed due to shoulder surgery but was on the sidelines observing practice.
