Miami (Okla.) Northeastern Oklahoma A&M J.C. defensive lineman Isaiah Johnson was offered first yesterday before his teammate and he told me that he was very excited about the scholarship because he used to watch the Mountaineers on television and has always been a fan of the blue and gold uniforms. Johnson is originally from Georgia but didn't qualify out of high school and actually took a leap of faith by traveling out to Oklahoma for junior college when his cousin signed with the Sooners. He recorded around 50 tackles and six sacks last season and has started to add offers from schools such as Nebraska, Central Florida and Arkansas State while there are a large number of schools that are showing heavy interest. He is hoping to graduate in December and will have three years to play two when he does. Safeties coach Matt Caponi is the lead recruiter here as well and he told me that he got a very positive vibe from him when he talked on the phone with him. Johnson plans to visit Morgantown at some point but is in no hurry to make a college decision. He has the ability to play inside or outside in college and coaches have been interested in his ability to get extended and blow up plays in the run game.
