I just spoke quickly over the phone with West Virginia commit and Mocksville (NC) Davie HS kicker Jonn Young after his visit to Morgantown this weekend. Despite having to travel through the snow, Young said everything went really well. Obviously the first question I asked him was just how he felt about the program considering the team parted ways with former special teams coach Joe DeForest, who did most of the recruiting on him. Young told me that he didn't pick West Virginia because of a coach and just said it was part of the business of college football. Young said that he never thought about decommitting. He also said he was really happy with Mark Scott. Before the weekend Young had yet to meet Scott and on his visit Scott explained to him how special teams would work. Young said Scott's plans for the special teams sound a lot like what DeForest was going to do anyway. Young that he should be getting an in-home visit from Scott later this week.
