Sounds like Rich Rodriguez is coming

Why does it feel like WVU is about to be Charlie Brown'd?

I know my opinion doesn't matter in the scheme of things and it is probably in the minority but I would be good with no buyouts for either the school or RR in the contract. If either wants out, then get out. No need to have any protection from that individual and no need giving him any in my book.

Which gives the impression somebody is playing games for a different reason.
I know it is popular among many to find a conspiracy in everything. I choose not to. If it is meant to happen, it will. And I'm pretty sure there is great interest on both sides but I'm also sure, they need to have everything buttoned up. RR is still a HC with a team in a bowl and recruits and WVU is never fast in doing anything except acting on Huggins after his last episode.

So is Rod getting ready for his big acceptance speech claiming I'll be here as long as you'll have me, 4PM?

I’m getting worried now!!!
I can't see how it will be Rich Rod now. Just my assumption is that Baker wasn't happy with his interview with Rich Rod, OR he wasn't happy that he felt like he was being pressured to hire Rich Rod from the donors and he is trying to find anyone else to hire for this position, even if it means someone that has ZERO head coaching experience.

I truly think RR is a home run!! Not sure what he’s thinking.

I think Rich Rod is the only candidate that makes sense in this current situation. But when you have a man with a large ego interviewing a man with an even larger ego, that usually spells doom.
If Wren doesn’t hire Rod, he’s an idiot. And so are those living in denial.

I think at his core Wren would like to go with a young up and coming coordinator over a 60+ yeae old hard nose ball coach. The thing is, we just had a 6 year setback and its hard to take a chance on someone with zero head coaching experience. Now is not the time for that imo.

Hartline would only go one of two ways:

1. He's a complete and total failure in the same vein as Wimpy Brown, and he's gone within 4 years due to being fired.

2. He's moderately successful and is gone in maybe 3 years to be some SEC offensive coordinator, kind of like Malzahn.

Rich rod will bring WVU football back to winning ways and an exciting brand of football. He fits culturally more than any of these guys. I'm tired of the crap that Neal Brown was the perfect fit culturally. Not true he was just a nice guy is all. This is WV! Rich Rod is the hard nose, no bullshit coach that will thrive here.

If this is true and Rod isn’t chosen, it confirms a lack of commitment to winning at WVU. They should’ve just kept Neal Brown and admitted to the fan base these results are now our expectation.

they can play Josh Groban's "You lift me up" while RR cries at the press conference..or you can hire Will Stein

I'm with you...that Oregon offense is amazing. The last OC from Oregon just won himself the Big 12 championship int ASU's first year. I don't get why people are so small minded on here. The thought process is the coach has to be either from WV or have WV ties. Historically, re-hiring a coach hasn't worked out too well and their many examples like Mack Brown, Dom Brown, Bobby Petrino, Bill Snyder. Schiano is average in his return to Rutgers.

You do realize that historically, re-tread hires have typically failed.

Bill Snyder resurrected the program and won at a high level again in his return. Schiano is still winning the same with Rutgers in his return. Remember it’s Rutgers and he’s now in the B10.

Bill Snyder did not win and the same level as he did in his initial run and Schiano is doing...meh. Be real.

Well, we could always hire a position coach to be the head coach right after a 6 year disaster. I mean he's an elite recruiter, at a school that everyone already wants to go. Sounds like a sure bet.
