Just got off the phone with Antonio Anderson, the defensive line coach for Garden City (N.Y.) Nassau C.C. defensive lineman Tyrell Chavis and got some great insight into his background and recruitment. Originally signed with Virginia but that didn't work out so he actually was not even playing football when Anderson came across his film and it took him all of a minute to get in contact with him and get him to school. He arrived out of shape but worked really hard to get back to where he needed to be and started from the minute the season started. He has around 20 offers right now with a lot more schools showing interest and Anderson simply called him one of the most complete defensive tackles he has seen with a great motor, ability to rush the passer and play the run. Chavis is heading to Marshall this weekend for an official visit, which will be his first and will be heading to Auburn Nov. 20 for an official visit. West Virginia visited the school yesterday and that's when the Mountaineers elected to extend an offer and it's one that really excited the defensive lineman. He has yet to set up a visit yet but Anderson said that the Mountaineers are solidly on the list for the 6-foot-5, 300-pounder, as well as Penn State outside the two schools he has already set visits to. Is a December graduate and will have two years of eligibility left.
