So much for that "great" defense

Never bought into the whole best defense in the BXII billings. The aTm bowl performance was telling and sort of glossed over. This D got a lot of credit for what it did last year vs Bay and TCU (a home loss). As we're finding out, it's the collective body of work & week to week consistency that matters.

Frustrating & ironic part is last year vs Bay: season low 318 yards, 27 points. This year: 693 yards, 62 points.

Obviously Joseph is irreplaceable. Chestnut out today hurt. Worley has been getting picked on & giving up big plays for weeks. Not too sure about all the praising of depth either.

Sad to say, but BXII QBs have a field day against us or make backbreaking plays against us with the game on the line.

B.Mayfield: 320 yards, 3 TDs, INT.
M.Rudolph threw 3 picks but provided 266 total yards; JW Walsh threw a TD & scored the game winning TD on 4th-N-goal in OT.
S.Russell accounted for 540 yards, 6 TDs, 0 INTs.

We would have won that game w/ a true D1 QB. Same last week and possibly at OU. We would have sustained drives, scored, kept Baylor's O off the field and rested our D who is playing well enough to compete in the B12. Our WRs were under and overthrown all game long. If there is a criticism of Dana it is why hasn't he yet recruited some better QBs? Otherwise, we are about where we need to be.

We have a good run defense but no pass rush, OK linebackers, and the once pretty-good secondary is now decimated. On another site someone told me "but the B12 runs 1.5 plays for every 1 in the other leagues". So we would have given up 50 or so instead of 62?

I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I long to stay.
