So if the Big Ten is not done expanding, how does this impact future of the Big 12?

If even one more PAC-12 school leaves for the Big Ten, it will destabilize the conference even further and significantly increase the chances that Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, or Colorado (aka the four corner schools) join the Big 12. If two or four more PAC-12 schools are invited to join the Big Ten, it will kill the conference and the four corner schools will have no choice but to ask the Big 12 for membership. In that scenario, the Big 12 would be in a position of power and could invite all four schools or choose the two most valuable that it wants to invite to the conference.

Starting to sound like reasonable scenarios.

SEC could screw this up still though, by maybe going after a couple Big 12 schools, in an effort to match the B1G with number of teams. Teams like Baylor, OSU, maybe even WVU.

Much better programs in the ACC. They aren't taking any more TX schools when they have the state covered with the biggest two. FL, SC, NC are SEC target areas.

SEC is done with Big 12. They got what they needed.

Don’t see Fla or Ga or SC as SEC grabs, they are already there in those states.

Yeah. Besides Texas and A&M those are oldtimers. Texas was needed to get Oklahoma.
FSU will join Florida
Clemson will join South Carolina

If anymore expansion is done.

That's a Big no that they wanted OU instead of Texas. Texas wanted OU to go with them. It's another big rivalry game for SEC.

And Georgia Tech will join Georgia
Oklahoma State will join Oklahoma
And….

B1G is going to 24.

New additions: Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, & Texas A&M

Disclaimer: If Tylerite can be stupid on here, so can I.

No duh. But neither does the others.
Really. I would say OU and Texas moved the needle for SEC. USC and UCLA upped it for B1G.

FSU, Clemson and ND about the 3 left that will increase profit.

SEC isn’t taking a second team from OK, and no way UT & aTm let Baylor into SEC. Doubtful that any B12 team is poached by another conference from here on out. Looks like the B12 will be the 3rd conference standing at the end of all this.

Wish you guys would quit this mindless squabbling.

Expansion isn't being based on wins and losses, "brands", or any other metric. It's solely based on markets.

With Texas and Oklahoma the SEC wrapped up the second largest market in the country.
With the addition of USC and UCLA the B10 wrapped up the largest market in the country.

The third largest? Florida.

The next expansion will come from there. FSU and Miami wrap up Florida and the SEC will grab them as soon as its expedient to do so.

One could also count Notre Dame, too. But they are their own market.

Where does that leave WVU? Simple, out in the cold.

For example, just one COUNTY in Florida, Dade County, has 1 and a 1/2 times the entire population of this state. That's just one, there are a few others not quite as big but bigger than WV. WVU could win the next 10 national championships and that wouldn't change a thing.

It's as simple as that.

The SEC will not take 3 FL teams. Will. Not.
The SEC will take either Miami or FSU. The Big 12 will take the other. The Big 10 isn't going into FL....especially for two second tier programs that won't move the needle.

I disagree I can totally see the BIG going after Miami

I can see the B10 threatening to do it in order to create a fire sale. That's it. You do realize that the closest program to FSU would be Maryland...right? Don't try for a false equivalency by comparing that to WVU and the Big 12. The B12 was desperate. The Big 10 absolutely is not.

Actually, FSU is closest to the Indiana campus. Illinois, Ohio State, and Purdue campuses are also closer to FSU than Maryland. Still long hauls though.

Miami will never see the Big 10. Of course nobody will know until 2036.
