A second-round pick in the 2009 draft, the career of quarterback Pat White, 29, has finally ended.
The Edmonton Eskimos have announced that White has retired after one season in the CFL.
“Pat was a true professional during his time in Edmonton, on and off the field,†Eskimos General Manager Ed Hervey said. “We wish him much success in the future.â€
In his only season with the Eskimos, White rushed for 159 yards on 35 rushing attempts, scored four touchdowns, and completed five of nine passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.
White, who won four bowl games as the quarterback at West Virginia, appeared in 13 games for the Dolphins as a rookie, was cut in 2010, tried baseball, and then resurfaced with Washington in 2013, taking reps in offseason workouts and training camp while Robert Griffin III recovered from a torn ACL. White made it onto the team’s 53-man roster for Week One, but was cut later that month.
