'Shameful!' Johnson slammed for saying Congress won’t cut recess short to pass disaster relief aid

Not surprising.
LOL...However... I find this FACT not surprising.

Scrutiny on the Biden-Harris administration's use of FEMA funds comes amid catastrophic flooding in North Carolina. Vice President Kamala Harris announced a $100 million package to support the state.

Critics pointed out, however, that the package was much smaller than the $157 million more in foreign humanitarian support Harris had announced for Lebanon the same day.
"To that end, the United States will provide nearly $157 million in additional assistance to the people of Lebanon for essential needs such as food, shelter, water, protection, and sanitation to help those who have been displaced by the recent conflict. This additional support brings total U.S. assistance to Lebanon over the last year to over $385 million," she added.

The money is available as part of the Green New Deal or Inflation Reduction Act in funds that have never been used. Biden and Harris Admin. just want to say it's the fault of congress to place the blame on them versus admitting they won't act because to them the Green New Deal stuff is more important than the citizens. Laugh at this if you want but my best friends daughter is the main aide for Chris Coons of Delaware and that comes straight from the horses mouth.

Harris and Biden can give more than measly 100 mil for the people of North Carolina when they gave Lebanon over $385 million for essential needs such as food, shelter, water, protection, and sanitation.

This fukin bullshit is beyond shameful
Speaker Johnson said "No!" (more money). see link in post #1.

Please show us the Speaker Johnson "No" more money" quote.
I missed it in the link you provided. I guess that you are aware that Harris/Biden have several avenues for giving more money for this disaster by bypassing Congress.

Harris and Biden can't give shit ....they take from us and hand it out ...problem is they want to hand out to others and not our own , easier to launder that way .

This morning on ABC the director of FEMA said that they had all the money, supplies, etc. they needed to take care of this crisis.

She later claimed the problem was trying to get the supplies to the people because of all the misinformation out there, like the money was going to house illegals, which wasn't true at all.

She claimed that people needed to get off social media and quit watching that misinformation and head over to the FEMA page to get the correct (mis)information.

So, to the original point, according to the boss herself, nothing more is needed therefore no reason for Johnson nor the House to even be involved at this point.

Looks like you're in luck as another is headed for Florida so get your pompoms and your popcorn ready.

Unlike North Carolina's Governor DeSantis will do his job with or without FEMA's assistance.

Mayorkas says FEMA has no more disaster funds, but IG report says agency is sitting on billions
Homeland Security Inspector General says agency has billions in untapped funds for storm relief.
An August 2024 report from Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General noted, "As of October 2022, FEMA estimated that 847 disaster declarations with approximately $73 billion in unliquidated funds remained open."

The Inspector General report also finds that FEMA has been extending deadlines by up to 16 years for $7 billion worth of grants, sometimes without explanation. For example, FEMA is still sitting on $4.5 billion in unused, frozen funds for Super Storm Sandy, which happened 12 years ago, in 2012.

You still confused on what Mayorkas said ?

Here...let me help you out :

On Oct 2, Mayorkas said, "We are expecting another hurricane hitting. We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what is imminent."

WASHINGTON — Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas set off outrage Wednesday when he told reporters that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) “does not have the funds” to see Americans through the rest of this Atlantic hurricane season — after FEMA agency spent more than $1.4 billion since the fall of 2022 to address the migrant crisis.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas said during a press gaggle on Air Force One en route to tour damage from Hurricane Helene in South and North Carolina.

“We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” he added. “We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what — what is imminent.”

What happened to the money ?

Updated 6:39 PM EDT, October 2, 2024
Congress recently replenished a key source of FEMA’s response efforts, providing $20 billion for the agency’s disaster relief fund as part of a short-term government spending bill to fund the government through Dec. 20. The bill also gave FEMA flexibility to draw on the money more quickly as needed.
