if our scoring offense is top 35 and our scoring defense is top 25, then what does that translate to?
8-4
9-3
10-2
my assessment is that if our offense averages just under last year (say 40) and our scoring defense improves to top 50, then we are looking at 8-4. But, if our defense cracks the top 25, then nine wins seems realistic.
The real question is, regardless of how well the d plays, can it consistently keep b12 offenses from scoring in big chunks? I still think our defensive scheme is subpar because it lacks pressure and places way too much stress on the defensive backfield. It doesn't matter how good the dbs are if the opposing wrs have enough time to get open.
