My guess is 5mil/year.

Obviously Lyons won't be dumb enough to give him the Golden Parachute Luck gave him.

I would guess either side would have to give up a years salary to leave or terminate early.

Dana say ........................there ain't enough gold in California to woo him away from the Mountaineers. Remember this..............onct a Mountaineer.........always a Mountaineer. RR................he left to mine gold and was highly successful at Michigan and Arizona. Dana found his gold in them thar hills of WV.

If Dana's playcalling is as brilliant as it was against Texas Tech, his best job since the demolition of Clemson, then TCU is in for a lot of hurt and a long day. If Ron Crook's O line is as good as it has been all season, then Skyler will be a terror to TCU with his passing and running game.

And, of course, we'll have to see if the Heavens weep, as in rain, on Saturday. That affects what you can do, on both sides.

Contract negotiations can wait till December or January. Dana, Gibby and Shane has more important things on thekir minds Saturday and for the rest of the season.

M anhandled Missouri, 26-11

O rdinary against Youngstown, 38-21

U nnerving miracle goalline tip/interception escapes BYU, 35-32

N o quit against Kansas State, 17-16

T ony’s turbulence tore up Texas Tech, 48-17

A nnihilate TCU

N ail Kansas

E radicate Texas

E rectile dysfunction Oklahoma

R oll over Iowa State

S uffocate Baylor

Why would WVU want to right now? Maybe it would be better to see what happens throughout the season, access the next recruiting class, etc. lol. 5-0 so far this season doesn't change a thing. He has been over paid and over protected through this contract, waiting a few more games to even wonder about it seems prudent. And btw, I think his coaching has improved dramatically since mid season last year. However, the proof is yet to be seen.

Correct. He needs a 5-6 year contract to be able to tell recruits he and his staff are here for the long term. Recruiting is obviously going great and will only get better but kids need to know the coach they are committing to will be there.

It would dumb at this point for WVU to offer up a ton of money to Dana until the season further unfolds and it would be stupid of Dana at this point to take less of a contract with things going well.

What's he make now compared to other coaches in the conference? I'd say 4 mil a year would get it done?

Coach D makes $2.65 mil this year and $2.9mil next year before numerous incentives. He is the 3rd lowest paid coach in the Big 12. Only Kansas and ISU pay less.

He does get 2 cars from the wheels program, a golf membership, a clothing allowance, a box at MF and 8 tickets at the Coliseum.

I'd agree that if he is retained and we want to be competitive it will take $4 mil to keep him.

Why the rush now?

The big time schools that might want him most likely already contacted his agent/representative....'even if' he ends the season strong we're already in a bidding war. If we don't end the season strong those schools will just fade away....

With each passing week, the price is going up. Time for WVU to replace Lyons and end this love affair with natives.

I think you mean 'with each passing win'.

Hopefully the price keeps going higher.....we'll see.

Golf memberships aren't deductible anymore....I was born too young.

It's just income.

Terrible.

BTW, everything after salary is what every coach gets....but thanks shane!

Dana seeing the expression of Yup Yup man cheering over him taking the team to a bowl game is likely enough to keep him here for three more years.

Need to do something. Each win will cost more money.

Not only should we get a deal done we need to give Seider more money along with locking up all of the assistants.

This is a good coaching crew from top to bottom now and they get along really well.

Gibby is a concern....headhunters are beyond kicking tires on him now. You SteelHead or anyone else know of his contract status and if there is an out should he be offered a HC position elsewhere? He has dealt with a few key injuries on this crew and still gets some pretty damned good results...

First year of a two year contract. But if he wanted to go for a HC I don't think there is a buyout.

Right now I doubt that either side is in a rush to make a deal. Contract negotiations are like a game of chicken you have to know when to flinch.
