I understand its not a spectator friendly sport. None-the-less each year The Mountaineer Rifle Team competes for the top spot in Rifle and often achieves and stays ranked in the top 5.

From wikipedia:
"West Virginia and Alaska-Fairbanks combined have won 27 of the 36 Championships, West Virginia leads all with 17, while Alaska Fairbanks has 10."

The Mountaineer Rifle Team is the definition of a Elite Program. IMO the Rifle team deserve some facility upgrades as well beyond what they have currently.

How much revenue so the bring to WVU?

I think I know what you attempted to express... ...and that argument would mean WVU should only have about two men's teams making up the entire athletic department.

How much revenue do they bring to WVU?

Let me guess, your one of those people that would like to cut out all non revenue sports. Your elitist way of thinking is antiquated and what prevents this state from moving into the 21st century. I get it the women folk should stay in their place "god forbid" that a young female student athlete have a opportunity to play a non revenue sport and get a education.

Well that escalated....

Somehow, I doubt my "philosophy" of revenue accountability will ever be antiquated......

My question would be, do you know that our facility is sub par when compared with others in the sport? Don't know just asking.

WVU Rifle Team Facilities overall are average. Im comparing the shooting range and facilities to what Fairbanks, Alaska and Ohio State have currently.

The Mountaineer shooting range needs some upgrades. Lighting and some added square footage. Update the look add some remote viewing HD screens.

A nice updated team room with some bells and whistles would be nice.

I actually provide income for our school... ...so an updated team room (in my home) with some bells and whistles would be nice.

The Rifle Team is special. It would be nice to endow the entire program. Not that I know how it's run, currently.

Anyone else agree that after WVU takes care of Football and Basketball things like the rifle team will get addressed?

Soccer facilities should also continue to receive upgrades. The job Nikki Izzo-Brown has done is simply amazing. She has built a damn good women soccer program.

I'd also like to see them complete the baseball facility with an indoor practice facility behind the stadium which is suppose to be built but the timetable is unknown.

I wouldn't mind seeing them do away with women rowing since our team isn't that good and implement a softball team. They could tear down Hawley Field and put the softball field there.

There is a long range plan to move the range to the existing swimming venue, complete with the spectator seating that already exist. It will cost $1M and cannot happen until the new county- university swimming venue is built. My gues is 2020, but it would be the best in the country

I take pride in rifle but to say the facilities are baaaad is ridiculous. Rifle involves a range and air guns.

Seriously, They don't lift weights or run. Locker rooms are for what 12 people- typically 7-9 males & 3-5 females. As far as a team study hall, I doubt they need it. Historically they've had the highest gpa in the AD. If they need better lighting on the indoor range, there's an ACE Hardware less than 5 miles away.

Rifle also wins titles. Don't let them get soft by having a lounge with a big screen TV and a pool table.
