This late in the game won't win you many games in the Big XII.

Looks like Alcoholgerson sees the writing on the wall and is lowering the talent for the next coach. Seems like Recruiting Wizard Seider did better recruiting to Marshall than he is doing for the Big XII Homecoming queen.

Stars don't mean much.

Steve Slaton was a "2 star castaway"
Owen Schmitt was a "no star castaway"
Jason Gwaltney was a "5 star"

I agree on the stars. I think they're a complete waste.

I make no assumptions on a recruit's impact on the team until I see them on the field.
Too many "can't miss" recruits that didn't pan out for one reason or another, and too many "never will be" guys that turned out to be great.

A lot of those 2 star committed kids are WV kids. Way to talk smack on in state talent playing for the school they have dreamed of attending. Got any Eli Wellman jokes while you're at it?

Stars have very minimal value at this point. We have had as many 4 and 5 stars succeed here as we did total busts. We also had a 3 star Big 12 rushing champ this year backed up by a 5 star. Gwaltney had all the talent in the world, but was a lazy headcase. There wasn't a program in the world that could fix him. Logan Heastie was as soft as Charmin once he met college talent.... never played a down.

I wouldn't be so critical of two stars judging by Mooshall's current commit list. It must be boring waiting for decent talent to bomb their final exams to take an official visit.

Wait.... did you post this at 1AM on a Wednesday? Sheesh.

I agree 100% with you on this and state the same on the OF forum

Umm maybe because I live on the West Coast now

And we aren't talking about Marshall. We are talking about the fact the rest of your conference is big time talent this time of year while WVU is chasing 2* and MWC recruits. I guess the dreams of signing boatloads of 4* and 5* kids have slithered away. But stick to the topic at hand, not everything is a Marshall vs. WVU debate.

Also Gwaltney wasn't lazy, I know the kid and the work he puts in.

His problem was he loved pussy more than his academics and football

Explains why WVU still sits in the upper half of the league in recruiting rank.

Star chasers are never happy. You cant expect to fill every single scholarship with high star talent. First off, star ratings center around a lot more than just on field performance. You'll find that the kids who camp are usually rated higher. Secondly, just because a kid is rated high, it doesn't mean a school necessarily agrees he is that talented OR thinks he is mentally capable of handling the work load. If you go chasing only 4 and 5 stars, you have crippling depth problems.

He also love wearing headphones to class and getting his 5 star rating stomped on by a couple of two stars who ended up winning 2 BCS games and making the cover of Sports Illustrated.

All the talent in the world...... not willing to do the work.

Say that to Alabama and the majority of the SEC. Clemson, FSU, UCLA, USC, OHIO STATE, MICHIGAN

You have always been wrong about recruiting and you know nothing about this class so why are you running your mouth?

That's it, change the topic... not certain how current unsigned recruits have been able to "show" anything, but I don't expect much from guys who brag about being unranked.

I was referring to your team, your shitty little football program, etc., not the players themselves. Jezus tapdancin chryst, you really are a stupid individual.

You stated WVu still sits in the upper half of the league recruiting rank. Oh really? You have nothing to show for that accolade. You certainly are not performing in the upper half of the league.

You may have been able to get away with that sort of sloppy posting in the past, but not now. There's a whole new breed of much better posters on here now, so step up your game.

A whole new breed? Son you are one of the dumbest mothers on the internet. Go suck your boys balls

You made a statement, you were wrong. You've made another statement, and no surprise, you are wrong again. Go ahead, use that "we're unranked higher than you" smack again, there is some giant smack.

You are just having a completely different conversation, with yourself.

Hmmm....let's see. We finished in 5th place in a 10-team "league" (most intelligent people call it conference but I won't get picky with you on that one).

Are there two halves there? Are there 5 in the top half and five in the bottom half? I'm confused by the Marshall logic.
It seems like bragging about getting some points from one vote yet not being ranked in the top 25.

You are tied with Texas Tech and Texas in conference play with a losing conference record (big surprise there) of 4-5. In other words, you're in a 3-way tie for 4th best in your conference. Your overall record from playing powerhouses like an almost winless Maryland, a Sunbelt Georgia Southern and a I-AA Liberty helped give you the edge in overall record, but the convo here is where you are finishing "in your conference."

In a tie for 4th out of 10 is not "upper half" by any means. Spin it however you wish, knuckle dragger.

I wouldn't really address the post if I were you either.

No, it's more like I'm trying to talk to the equivalent of a monkey in a diaper, that's reaching into its diaper to grab sh!t and smearing it on the wall.

It's pointless trying to argue with someone who's not even able to follow along. I know your parents had to be first cousins and you were home schooled to boot, but I had hoped for better from you. Now run along and pick at some dingleberries in your adult diaper or something.

You played an entire schedule of teams worse than those

Really ... a Marshall fan has absolutely NO room to talk about our schedule.

At least 11 ... ELEVEN!!! ... FCS schools played a tougher schedule than you did, and that's been par for the course for you guys for several years.

I suppose if I was a third grader that would have been a devastating bit of smack. As it is, your best line,"It's pointless trying to argue with someone who's not even able to follow along," drips with irony.

A former Alabama commit found no problem with the schedule. Oh and he is fully eligible as well

I'm pretty confident he will be playing for Marshall next year. And if he props, so what he still will be on campus and pretty much redshirting.

Where is the Herd's recruiting class currently rated?

What has Holgs recruiting classes done for him. I would say Doc has been pretty steady with his recruiting class rankings. If anything we have out performed our rankings

Um....Do you just ignore the fact that Marshall plays one of the weakest schedules in the country? There are 1AA teams with stronger schedules.

What you are calling "Doc's success" is nothing more than the results of playing an FCS-like schedule in a conference back-filled with 1AA teams.

Where does Marshall's recruiting rank right now? That's right 78th...

Fortunately for Doc and his Herd, that's near tops in CUS1AA.

Doc and the Herd is "fool's gold"....That's nice that all you care about is wins. Thanks to mediocrity and not having to play teams with a pulse, the delusion is back in Huntington.

At worst, Holgorsen and WVU would have gone11-1 in that piss ant conference and the one loss being a huge upset. Likely, would have gone undefeated.

I wouldn't go around bragging to P5 fans about stepping on ants and sometimes getting bested by them.

Glad you're enjoying the fall.

It is almost like you morons believe you can compare your little program to WVU. This is why we mock you.
