You know, in the words of Nick Saban, this team was fed a GIANT dose of "rat poison" in the week leading up to this game. Greene was being heralded as a Heisman candidate, this team was hearing and reading about how uber-talented they were....I mean have you ever seen such a buildup in the days leading up to a game? I haven't and I told my buddy on Friday that I sure hoped these guys are able to purge all that hype and just play loose, mistake free football on Saturday.
I suspect Nick Saban wouldn't have even let Garrett Greene participate in the McAfee show on Friday where he was serenaded to chants of "Garrett Heisman".
Anyway, it was going to be impossible to live up to all that ridiculous hype. But, damn, we sure imploded in grand fashion. And, to a small extent, I suspect the rat poison they were fed all week didn't exactly help.
