Germany loves to posture on the world stage, talking tough about handling its own security and not needing the U.S. But when you look at the actual state of their military, the whole thing is a joke.
The average age of the German army?
33.5 years old.
Out of 181,000 active soldiers, there are:
214 generals or admirals
39,000 officers
95,000 NCOs
46,000 regular soldiers
Once you account for the Air Force and Navy, plus the overwhelming number of troops in non-combat roles, the number of actual frontline soldiers—the ones who would be in the trenches if a real war broke out—is around 16,000.
That’s it. 16,000.
A rounding error for any serious military.
The German army is a bloated bureaucracy in uniform, not a fighting force.
